that is unbelievable, I know you've logged the complaint with learn direct, but it may be worth contacting trading standards esp as its all one company.

    U take care xx

The centres are all franchises I think using the Learn Direct brand. The only common denominator is that they run Learn Direct courses., but it may be worth contacting trading standards but I don't think it will be much use as the centre has gone bust not Learn direct.

I am hoping Learn Direct themselves can sort out the problem to my satisfaction.

Welcome to the new posters and Thank you everyone for your lovely and helpful comments.
I did some searching on companies house and found that the Directors dissolved another learning establishment in 1997 only to open in the same building again under a different name but all directors were the same on both companies.
It's really strange how they just made their staff redundant on Thursday afternoon without notice. They didn't even tell Learn Direct themselves,so Learn Direct hadn't come up with an action plan, hence all the confusion now.
Hopefully,by the end of next week I should know what if anything Learn Direct themselves or the other centre can do for me and can then plan my next step accordingly.

It has really upset me as everything takes so much more effort than it used to pre cancer and I've totally exhausted myself to complete the course only for them to pull the rug from under me.I hate feeling hopeless.

If you find out anyway us 'ordinary folk' can complain, protest, scream a protest, please let us know.

I'm disgusted, and all the other things one can be but don't know what would help.

*hugs* if that is any help?
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

The saga with Learn Direct and the centre continues.I received a phone call from Learn Direct this morning basically saying that I'd receive a letter within the next week outlining my options. He wouldn't be drawn to give any further detail so I'm still non the wiser...sigh!!!

I did the banking this morning and have transferred funds in to the GET RID OF THE MORTGAGE FUND and in to the TAXI/CAR REPAIR FUND...both are looking quite healthy at the moment but the car fund will take a hammering in the next few months as the pits and insurance will be coming up.
Not much else going on around here at the moment but that's fine with me.

Just popping in to say a quick hello! Sorry to read that things have been all over the shop again! It will all settle down, I am sure. I know that in the meantime it is not much fun, but good things are ahead xxx

    Right where do I start?
Over all I've had a very positive day and am feeling quite happy and motivated which I haven't done for a long time.(I didn't realise how sad I was feeling until I felt better today IYSWIM).
The easiest way would be to talk you through the day.

I woke this morning after having a good sleep and actually bothered to wash my hair and have a facial etc.
I had made some quite big deciscions (to me anyway) and was going to stick with them.Quite when I came to these realisations I don't know,it just sprang in to my mind as clear as anything..very strange.

I immediately felt lighter and that a huge dark cloud had lifted.I'd decided on three things:
    (1) That I was no longer going to help at Weight Watchers because although it was the MSE thing to do as I didn't have to pay for my meeting,I was missing out on the motivational talks and it was effecting my weight loss.
    (2) I'm going to go back driving my taxi in a few months when I feel better. The job market is atrocious and who I am kidding that I'll be able to get a nice office job when there are so many people unemployed and highly qualified/experienced/younger looking for jobs and the Government focus turning to apprenticeships for 16-24 yr olds means firms will go for the cheaper labour. My job is ready made and I can go at my own pace and my poor hubby can then just work proper nights so that he can have a decent sleep and I'll work days...at the moment hubby does a few hours in the morning and a few at night so this way the taxi will be realising more of it's potential.
    (3) In order to achive no 2 I need to get fitter and healthier so need to up exercise and lose weight by sticking to my WWs.

I went to WWs where I'd gained 6lbs..OOPS..this didn't phase me as I've suddenly found my mojo.I told my WWs leader I'll no longer be helping out and gave my reasons and then purchased a monthly pass which I activated on line tonight.I thoroughly enjoyed my meeting and came away motivated.I have tracked and counted my points all day and am pleased with myself.

I then received a phone call from the training centre with whom I have an appointment for thursday..they were sorry to cancel as they had been told I needed to wait for the letter from Learn Direct with instructions before seeing them..sigh

Got home and opened post to find a letter from DWP saying my ESA will stop on 13th September due to the new rules on contribution based ESA.I didn't know whether this letter was due to the change in rules or whether it was due to a deciscion relating to a medical form that I filled in weeks ago and hadn't heard anything further as to whether I needed to go for a medical.I decided to query this on the phone and it only related to the fact that my benefit would end but the kind man looked on the system and found that it had been decided last week that I was still staying in the work related activity group and as they had enough info on my form I didn't need a medical. The letter for that should be out this week apparently.

I discussed going back to work with DH and he was shocked that I was going to drive the cab but it's a means to an end.

We then went to a kennels near Preston and we found a lovely german shepherd that we fell in love with..we had to fill in an adoption form online and will need an home visit to see if we are suitable..they phoned at tea time and the home visit is booked for friday,so hopefully,we'll pass and be able to bring him home.We are taking Tess to the kennels tomorrow and we're hoping they get on.So fingers crossed for that!!

We then went to the ice cream parlour and I had kendal mint cake ice cream (I pointed it),it was delicious and DH had a chocolate one.We also had a nice pot of tea for two.

The night was finished with a chinese..chicken foo young and hot and sour soup for me(again all pointed).

So a pretty good day all in all
