What a week indeed,
sounds like you need to do something soothing & fun to counteract all that stress. Hope you're coping with it all ok.

That's a lot to make up Taxi, can you appeal? Ditto what Lula says about doing something fun.

Don't know what I'm going to do or how I'm going to make it up.
I cannot appeal. The Government have decided that people on contribution based ESA(so that'll be those of us who've worked then) can only get it for 12 months. They passed this a couple of days ago and will start April (guess this will be the 6th) AND to add insult to injury it will cease that day if you've been on it 12 months.
If you are single you can get income based ESA for as long as you need.
If you have a partner and they work more than 16 hours a week then you can't get income based.
The only people on contribution based ESA that will keep it more than 12 months are those in the support group and that is hard to get in to...there are very few who get into support group...
They even have the fantastic idea(not) of sending people with cancer that have more than 6 months to live on work placements where they don't get paid and no limit on time.I despair I really do.
The cab is doing badly but was just covering the bills but not generating enough money to put any aside for insurance or replacement vehicle.Poor DH can't work anymore hours.
The only thing I can shave is the grocery bill but how I don't know.I physically do not have the strength to work.I really wish I could.I've given up smoking and the bills are as low as I can get them,we don't have sky, can't do anything with the mobiles as both in contract, just changed gas/electric suppliers.
I think I need to menu plan..I did a weeks shopping for £54 this morning and will probably only need to top up with a 4pint milk and 2 loaves of bread.
I need some cheap, healthy low fat meals as I still want to follow weightwatchers and lose my weight.I don't pay for WWs now as I help out.
Anybody got any cheap ideas0 -
Taxi - That is unbelievable, it really makes you wonder why you bothered to work all your life, you've got hubby working his backside off and you get treated like carp.
Can you appeal on any of the points - I don't know how the points work its still all new to me.
You def need to go for DLA.

It annoys me, theres a mum at school she gets full mobility, full care, ESA, her hubby gets carers allowance, plus works, - shes is so be so disabled she can't leave the house, but what she does is unbelieveable. I've seen her run across the playground, at last sports day she even took part in the mothers race.
If there anything I can think if try + rack my brains.
You need to look after yourself we worry about you xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Taxi could you not re-apply for ESA citing the newly found medical problems with the spine?Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

sorry Taxi i'm not much use as i don't know much about the benefits but i can offer you a hug and some support, not much but i hope it helps0
-
Sorry think you've mis-understood me....nobody even ESA doubts my illness and will probably score enough points yet again on the medical form I need to put in again.
My problem is it I won't get any money because the Government have decided that CB ESA is only payable for 12 months similar to that CB JSA is only payable for 6 months...a lot of workers are going to be very shocked if they get a long term illness and have a partner that works more than 16 hour0 -
Oh Taxi! I didn't know all of this was going on, I'm so sorry to hear it. Is there any other benefit that you're eligible for instead? This stuff just gets more and more complex, and its *so* vile. When David Cameron says "we're all in this together", it really makes me want to spit blood, thinking of what you're going through.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Just wanted to say what an inspiration you are. You have such a positive attitude.
My husband will also loose out in the end because I work, even though I have a mortgage and a child, I am expected to support everyone on my wage of £160pw!!
Anyway, like you say, it is penalising the people who have worked, I have been working 25 years and my husband worked for 18 years before his accident (which was at work)!!
I really don't know why we bother!!0 -
Lost for words Taxi I really am! Ridiculous that you're having to go through all this extra worry. Big hugs.
I'm taking a leaf out of your book and off to menu plan. That's where I save the most money and I really notice the difference in my bank account when I've been shopping willy nilly as opposed to having a list.
Take care Taxi.
