  • Evening, considering the forecast was dreadful, we ended up with blue sky and sunshine.

The veggie beds are all weeded again. Broad beans are doing well but I won't cover them next winter. The ones outside the cloche have done far better than those under the cloche

Hanging baskets were done the other day and the garden is starting to look ship shape. BBQ will be cleaned in the week, benches are uncovered and salad seeds have been sown. I have another bed to weed and some plants to transplant. I will finish these jobs during the week.

We have looked at inset wood burning fires for the UK and are having a chat with a ground and air source heating chap in the week, re Portugal.

There has been a lot achieved today :T

V industrious! :) you're making me think it may be time to dust off the veggie seeds and trays. All that rain over the winter seemed never ending so I rather gave up hope...however may now be time to finally believe that Spring is on its way :)

    Have a good week Tilly

Morning, I've used part of a raised bed as a holding pen for plants which I wanted to move but wasn't sure where to. Neither of us has ever been good with flowering shrubs, the garden tends to be veggie centric :)

Everything is out of the shed and in its right place. Second quote should be in today for the house jobs.

The air smells glorious, spring is bringing joy and it was heading for 7 before it was dark, dark last night. As you said, the clocks are changing and the longer days seem to bring a sense of freedom. I think that's one of the reasons I am looking forward to moving. Even in the depths of winter it is between 530/6 before it is dark in Portugal in the winter. Just a couple of hours makes a difference

As I'm typing I can see th alerts coming up for Brussels news. Heartbreaking that we live in a world where harmony and appreciating and respecting differences is so challenging.

I've joined a walking group and the first one is today. Looks like a good day for it as the sun is trying to come out already.

Jobs for today - washing, ironing, make veggie chilli for dinner. Throw out two plants which have died and transfer the remaining plants to new homes.

Have a good day and as it's Good Friday this week, the working week is half done by tonight ;)

That sounds a good day planned for today, Tilly - I *so* know what you mean about the daylight hours.

I just saw the Brussels news :( I've kept the BBC live updates open on another tab :(

You've inspired me to sort some seeds out this weekend :) - we're away for 3 weeks this Summer, so I shan't be doing as much as normal, but I'd like to get some salad leaves and Sunflowers started at the very least! Shall see what else I have stored away in the garage.

Another one here looking forward to clocks changing :)

  • Afternoon, pretty drab old day :(. Our council tax bill has arrived for Portugal so at least we will see the sun in April.

There will be some very happy MFWers once the clocks change :T. Time outside = happiness in this household.

The walking group was good fun and I'm going again next week. Off to fetch mum this evening and early afternoon today, I ventured into C@stco. Not too bad and I bought the toothbrush heads which I had wanted. £234 in total so either very expensive toothbrushes or too much stuff jumped into the trolley. Remind me never to take DS with me. On a positive note, no junk food, chocolate, crisps - I did buy loo roll, tissues, pork shoulder x 2, boned leg or pork, large joint of beef, large unsmoked gammon, plus other stuff :)

    Happy Easter.
