Yay, gumtree have come through. Potential cleaner contacted us this morning, she is up bright and early:). Coming for a chat etc so will be keeping everything crossed.
Completed another mini money switch so things are looking good.
Jobs for today: volunteering this evening, finish my little bit of ironing - relax.

            Hi there Tilly
I would definitely recommend a cleaner, I think the rate will depend on how remote you are. I am quite near Brighton and there are loads of cleaners but in my area not so much and so you pay more. I pay £9 an hour which I personally think is good, for here:D. She does 5 hours a week and is worth her weight in gold. I come home and the house is spotless and all ironing, esp pesky shirts and sheets, done. I don't have to think about it and it just let's me get on with everything.
My only advice would be, go in saying that you just need a temporary helper for the next month (with a view to making it longer if it goes well) or be up front that it is a trial. That way if they aren't a great cleaner (which let's face it you won't know until they clean the house for a couple of weeks) you can say goodbye and not feel too guilty. I am very fussy, well I want the cleaner to clean the house as well as or better than me!!! I wasn't pleased with the original cleaner that I had and so had to have a very hard conversation which wasn't nice. I wish I had told her that I would do 4 weeks and then let her know if she had got the job. I did this with my present cleaner and knew after week 1 that she was going to be a keeper.
Anyway, have been offline a bit but reading with interest, well done on the mortgage switch!!

Hi SJ, thanks for stopping by. I have agreed to a two week trial with 6 hours per week. We both had a good feeling (Mr T&Mrs T). Can't wait.
Hope all is well with you. Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Morning, well as I replied to SJ we now have a cleaner for a two week trial and if ok, to be confirmed. 6 hours per week to start with and will see if that is fair on both sides. I feel mightily relieved.
Spending is going well and menu plan has had thumbs up from DK and lodgers. DS is loving having a guy here. I cannot believe how well it works but that has to be the Mon-Fri plan. I could not put up with full time. We had au pairs for years and I used to find the weekends the most difficult.

            Morning Tilly,
Well done on getting the cleaner sorted, it's the one thing i promised myself and yet have never done.
Should reduce your stress a bit and mean you can make the most of your non-work time :j
Better post this as there is a massive hail shower going on outside and the lights are flickering, eekk. To think it was too hot last week!!

Morning PWD, weird weather indeed. We have glorious sun at the moment, although chillly, yet an hour up the motorway it's coved with snow.

Great news on the cleaner Tilly a cleaner is on my list of things that I'd love, but can't afford yet. There may be room for one in the future though, depending on how things go. It definitely sounds like a good decision for you. a cleaner is on my list of things that I'd love, but can't afford yet. There may be room for one in the future though, depending on how things go. Morning Caz, I have everything crossed that it works well. It is going to make life much easier.
Hope the kids enjoyed their jarmie day. We still have those occasionally and my kids are much older :rotfl:

Morning, very cold here but no snow:). Off for a walky/run in half an hour. I feel much stronger physically and I like that feeling. I can't see me ever running marathons etc but what I am doing is enough to improve my life which is what it was about in January.
All looking good on the money front. Meeting friends for dinner but all budgeted in the entertainment pot. Kids off to movies and lunch out with friends. Last day of work for a while :T
Have a good day and just in case I am not posting as much over the next few days, have a good Easter break.
