    Hi Tilly

Glad you had a good break and are on the road to recovery.

Great news about the mortgage progress too.

    Take care of yourself.

  • Afternoon, the weather has definitely been more stable today. Plenty of sun and only a little rain.

    I've OP the £1200 :T

Pigs cheek casserole tonight (thank you freezer) served with creamy mash and whatever veg I can find in the fridge.

The ironing pile is on the increase again and sadly I'm not able to do that yet. I'm just about to call DS to do his :)

Washing is pretty much up to date and it's just the airing cupboard to tame now.

Shopping on Friday this week to give us all a weekend off. Budget of £40 which needs to include a Costco lasagne. Whilst I'm massively improved, some things are beyond me and messing around making lasagne is one of them. All salady stuff and herbs are from the garden until at least October so no £ wasted there.

Operation clear out is under way and Mr T has lost at least two pairs of shoes. I have my beady eye on a third :p. Charity shop has benefited from a fair bit and I may be getting the Kondo bug. I've still not read the book but the question 'does it give you joy' is really resonating with me. I know I still have things in the sideboard which do not give me joy, along with the TV room

    Have a lovely evening x x x

A man with 3 pairs of shoes worth chucking? To quote Marge Simpson, "somebody has a fetish" :rotfl:

Give the SC beef brisket a try, it's lovely, although I think I'll always be partial to the stove top variety that my Gran introduced me to so many years ago.

If you have the patience and can spare some time (and can scrounge up some pink salt and pickling spice), you can also make a fantastic home cured corned beef with brisket. One of those dishes that feels like a real 'show off' one, but is super easy.

Dearest Tills, I was just thinking of you, and...... Anyhoo, it struck me that you might have been away when an interesting 'one-off' documentary aired on More4 last week (Wednesday 9pm). It was called A Taste of the Yorkshire Dales and it featured Michelin stared chef Frances Atkins of the Yorke Arms. It was really your sort of prog - as she really focused in on using local produce - meat, fish, vegetables etc - in addition to harvesting, gleaning and foraging materials/ingredients to accompany her dishes. You would really like her style - and as for her kitchen garden out the back of the hotel..........man! Your sort of thing entirely :D I don't know if you are signed up to More4 on demand - or however you access it, but if you have the opportunity to catch this prog, please do. It's an hour long (including adverts). If nothing else, MrT could involve you in some practical research to find the 'best' place to celebrate mortgage freedom ;):D Fine food, wonderful wines, comfy hotel, gorgeous gardens, sumptuous surroundings...........

I've been looking up trees. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous ;) I've also been catching up (a little) with the Chelsea coverage - *sigh* :D

Morning Tilly, you are still achieving so much despite not being completely recovered. You are an inspiration. Hope you get the chance to sit and enjoy the garden today, you may just have to imagine a warmer climate!

  • Morning Mr E, I quite fancy trying the corned beef recipe. I don't have pink salt but am sure I can hunt some down :)

Temptation to throw third pair away is almost unbearable. Mr T is a complete nightmare for buying shoes then deciding they're not comfortable. They are however more of the trainer variety so not so expensive :)

  • Morning Greying, I'm pretty sure I can access the programme via Sky - will definitely give that a go. Definitely sounds interesting. We are doing more seed sowing this week to ensure successional salads. Potatoes need to be earthed up as well and are growing like wildfire.

I've also started to watch a gardening programme on iplayer called The Beechgrove Garden. It's a practical show and I'm learning some useful tips from it. I too love the Chelsea coverage and also the Malvern show on GW.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

I wish I felt like an inspiration  I'm definitely pushing myself now, given how carp 2015 has been.

I'm loving OPing and seeing the numbers come down :T. Tilly Tidying is going well and provides somewhere between £40/45 per month :j

Right, I think it's third cup of tea time.

Tilly, glad you're all giving yourselves the weekend off. And yes, cooking is one of those things that go by the board for me too, sadly - though, this week, I made my banana bread recipe again, and I love it :)

    Have a good Thursday :)
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Morning, odd day so far. One of my hounds woke me up at 5.30am

For some reason I was wide awake so have spent a little time weeding then made mushrooms on toast, two cups of tea and I watched two episodes of Elementary.

Today my task is to empty and sort airing cupboard. DS has resorted to borrowing his dad's socks. I wonder why he doesn't think to empty airing cupboard?

HM chinese for dinner and I need some meat to go in it. I'm actually tempted to do prawns instead as I have some in the freezer - decision made :)

DD has an exam today and is definitely doing her utmost to do well. She's coming home on Friday and I may just have booked for her to have a back and head massage - she definitely deserves some pampering :A

This tea won't make itself so I'd better get cracking.
