Thanks for your lovely posts. Hopefully this next lot of steroids will do the job
I've turned into such a whinging old bag - need to pull myself together.
Tomorrow I will clean the garage fridge
I've spoken to DD today and had a good catch up. She's loving learning so so much stuff at Uni. I have to say it is beyond me, but I'm delighted to see her growing.
I've had some good chats about financial management today as well as food management. Once I'm back to normal I'm going to run some classes for running a home - a bit like Home Economics for those of us who are of a certain age :rotfl:

Ironing pile is almost winking at me now
I've set myself some things to achieve today and Mr T is taking me out this evening. May have to have a nana nap before then.
Mr T is away a big chunk of next week and I'll need to find things to keep my motivation going. I think I'll give the study a sort out and tidy. May even get round to tackling the ironing :rotfl:
I'm off to the college this afternoon for a massage. Elemis, one hour, £15 - it was on a special offer I saw when having my hair cut :T
I've got Saving with JO out for some cooking inspiration. I made HFW 5 root veg soup the other day after MWC posted about it. It really is delicious.
Have a good Friday. Tilly x x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Yes pleease don't add it to the list of "why don't they teach that at school"
Much better from you. X0 -
Yes, I see that teachers are now also supposed to be preventing radicalisation. We can't all know everything. Much better for real experts to do these things, people with real experience, like Tilly for home management rather than a 22 year old chap who shares a house with backpackers and eats out of Domino's. And people who really know about Islam rather than a middle aged white woman with no experience beyond the Church of England for the other.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Hi, re the HE lessons - this won't be attached to a school and isn't something I will charge for. I really feel a need to give back and help people improve their lives. I'm going to start with a refuge and some people who are currently waiting to be rehomed. I'm making a simple menu plan, pricing it up, with a protein being used to make multiple dishes. It will be linked to CAP.
I can't plan this right now as I'm simply not strong enough but I can tell I'm improving as my brain is starting to work :T
When I listen to DD and the way she stretches her budget, I have realised these lessons can be passed to others. Please don't think I'm being arrogant, I just want to help people manage their food budget as wisely as possible.
I'm also starting to share information about how to build an emergency fund by doing surveys, eb@y etc etc. The way this has been received is unbelievable, in a good way. Vulnerable people seem to be far more exploited. Giving someone the wherewithal to build a £100 EF makes an amazing difference. Nothing in comparison to the OS boards, but early days.
I've walked today for about 40 minutes and I'm bushed. Currently siting on the sofa catching up on The Musketeers with DS, with a glass of wine by my side :T

Personally, although I really enjoyed HE at school, I don't think it is a school education requirement. This sits firmly with the parents in my mind. DS has made cakes and biscuits since he was young, as I said I would not buy ready made cakes and biscuits etc. If he fancied one, he cooked with one of us, or when older, made his own. However, I think we have drifted so far the other way, that there may be a generation of people (let's hope the minority) who don't know how to cook and economise.
Difficult world for kids to grow up in.

I think your Home Economics sessions sound fantastic, and it is a brilliant thing to be doing.
The recent TV show 'Eat Well For Less', has highlighted that many people simply don't have the skills to shop, plan and cook.
People aren't born with those skills, they have to learn them from somewhere.
For the lucky ones, the parents show them what to do, but not everyone is as fortunate, that's where your sessions will be invaluable.Early retired - 18th December 2014
