  • Productive morning and I've sorted a bag of clothes for the homeless in our area. Mr T will deliver this evening and it gets sorted and tends to be given out the same week. We have a list of items required in an average week, and it varies from fleeces to socks and underwear. As this type of stuff I wouldn't normally take to the charity shop, I'm hoping it will all be useful.

However, I'm now jiggered so will disappear for a rest :(

On a positive note, the discussions at work regarding redundancies are moving up a gear or two, and as I'm frustrating people by being off work, I could move to the top of the list.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

  • I know you want to be moved to the top of the list Tilly! But it's no good people being frustrated that you are off work - you are ill and that is all there is to it!

Hope you have a good rest this afternoon.

Maybe there will be a silver lining in the cloud :)

Mr T took me to London last night, although I wasn't sure I'd make it - to see Sir Simon Rattle conduct at the Royal Festival Hall - what an amazing evening and did both the soul and my heart good. I apprciate I'm going to be worn out today as a result, but worth it. Mr T bought me a glass of wine £6.50
I don't normally frequent this part of the Forum but am currently listening back to Radio 3's concert from Saturday night (Simon Rattle conducting Mahler 2 and a modern piece whose composer temporarily escapes me). Was that the one you went to?

Hi, this was the opening piece Tableau for orchestra by Helmut Lachenmann. It was 10 minutes long, very modern - not something I would actively follow, but very interesting to see the layering and blends.

Mahler's Symphony no. 2 in C minor was simply beautiful. 1 hour 25 minutes of heaven.

I'll check for this in iplayer - thanks

  • Afternoon, I did quite a few jobs yesterday in between having a rest. This is driving me mad  I guess I overdid it as today I've hardly done anything.

On a positive note though, £50 claimed from YG :T

£79 claimed from TCB and now OPd
£2.43 claimed fm TCB but not arrived yet

Payday on Friday, not that I've earned any of it but Mr T has told me to think of the extra hours I was working every day, for years. It's hard to not feel guilty though.

Dinner last night was ham and chicken pie, with HM stock. Absolutely delicious and basically a free meal as it as all leftovers. Really does the heart good.

DD send me a pic of some bargainouse items she'd bought. She even jointed a chicken, portioned everything, packed in freeze bags and now in the freezer. She made HM stock with the carcass as well. I feel really proud of the way she's managing her finances and her cooking.

Time for a cup of tea I think.

I hope everyone is loving the sun.

    Best wishes Tilly x

I went onto YG for the first time in ages, and something was wrong with the survey and I couldn't finish! Never had that before, I was quite bemused!

Please, please, please don't feel guilty about needing to be off work because you're ill! I totally agree with MrT about recognising the unpaid overtime you've done over the years, but even so, if you're ill, you're ill. Have a nice relaxing evening :)

Yup, and this is just what I told you as well - if you worked out your hourly rate you suddenly wouldn't be so well paid after all :naughty:.

  • Absolutely. I once worked out the real cost of doing exam marking when I included all the admin involved and it came out at less than minimum wage. Many of us in 'professional' jobs end up with a lot less per hour than those in hourly paid occupations if we were honest about the time we really spend on them.

Do take the time and get really well,
