  • Have fun with the hedge, Tilly - I am pulling out my tomato plants!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I've got next door's ivy threatening to overwhelm my quince plant :( and I couldn't get my sister's hedge trimmer to work, so I've got to do it the old fashioned way - my sympathies on the hedge!

I hope this leaving opportunity works out the way you want it to - I guess all we can do is put the footwork in, and let the employer work through their own policies in their own time - really hope it all aligns for you, tho.

They earn money due to the traffic they push to the outlets, as well I am sure, the details are useful for market research.

Someone who knows more is likely to pop by

You're spot on Tilly - affiliate sites like TCB and £co drive customers to sites by offering a good deal (cashback and sometimes voucher codes to boot). In exchange, the site owners pay them a small amount of money for each clickthrough that tracks successfully. The site owners consider this a marketing cost, and the cashback sites make lots of little profits.

It's the same principle by which bloggers sometimes attempt to make a few pennies by writing about something that requires a purchase and then providing links to it (for example, an art blog might link to a website selling paint).
  • Hi Mr E, thanks for clarifying :)

I tend to check the prices via two search engines to make sure the price isn't inflated 😄 before buying.

It really has been worth doing for us and free money is definitely welcome. I'm slightly scared about MB but boy, it's working for you.

Morning, the weekend contained two seasons, summer on Saturday and autumn on Sunday

Brilliant weekend and tons achieved. We may have gone slightly mad in the garden and due to being out all Sunday, will have to clear up next Saturday.

Mr T has booked for the girls (me and DD) to go and see White Christmas in London the week before we go away in December. This is such a special gift as we have watched this film almost every Christmas since the children were small. I used to sing one of the songs to the children when they were going to sleep every evening :)

Oxtail casserole (thank you freezer) for dinner this evening with leeks and jacket potato. I do need to go shopping as I haven't been all weekend :o

Money - it has been an expensive Sunday as there was a lot on and a meal out. I don't have enough in the entertainment budget to repay the current account as I've paid for the pre Christmas event. The grocery challenge is on :). I only need fruit, one green veg and milk and I'll take £10 for the shopping.

    99p Tilly Tidied to MOS.

I am becoming more and more frustrated with this site. One in two posts freezes which is driving me mad.

That's all for now. I need to crack on and sort myself out for work.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

That was a very thoughtful idea from Mr T, he's clearly angling to make the nice list :santa2:

We have a mini tradition of going to see White Christmas at a local independent cinema, the combination of cheer and art deco glam seems very fitting somehow. I take it you are going to see a musical version?

Also, how much oxtail do you think we'd need to feed 2 hungry adults? Planning a trip to WR next weekend as it's the only shop I know that stocks Fair Trade advent calendars.

Thats a lovely trip for you and DD :) And oxtail, ooh ... I've been veggie for a long time, but I remember a proper oxtail dish in a restaurant somewhere as a young adult. Amazing, layered taste.

The site freezing - is it happening anywhere else, Tilly? I'm not suffering that at the mo, tho my browser does run slow after the computer's been on for a few hours.

  • Hi Mr E, Mr T won loads of gold stars for that one :). We were in London yesterday and saw the billboards and he quietly booked the tickets :T

I think oxtail is a difficult thing to portion. Bear in mind the flavour which develops as the dish is cooking, I find the equivalent of one per person is more than ample. However, I tend to buy it in bulk and accompanied by tons of veg, make a 6.5 litre slow cooker full of oxtail casserole/stew. I take all the bones out before serving as well. Your plate bowl would show a hefty serving, but more than 75% would be veg in a rich dark gravy :)

Not sure that helps but I guess I'm saying I 'eek it out' :)

Have a good week, Tilly x
