If things don't make sense I will always challenge, even if I know I'll be told to back down. Some you win, some you lose but at least I sleep at night, knowing I have done my utmost to do the right thing each day.
At my previous job, I would always speak up and ask the questions, whether it was when I was manager or a 'do-er'.
But, although they always claimed 'it was safe to speak up and challenge the way things are done', they didn't want anybody to actually say anything.
In fact when senior head office people visited, I was actively kept well away from them, just in case I asked a question.
Back in 2007, I was keen to ask why we were lending so much money in mortgages when there was a credit crunch on, and where exactly are we raising the money and how are we going to pay it back?
I never got the chance..... if they'd listened to what I wanted to say, the whole banking crisis could have been averted !:rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014

Yay! So the whole banking crisis was because they didn't listen to you? Might've known ... we really can set the world to rights, can't we :j:D2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Dark sky, drizzly, damp - yuk. Mr T is currently fixing the side gate as the lock/hinge (everything actually) collapsed this week. Given we have two large hounds, we were worrying that they may open the gate and take themselves off for a walk :rotfl:

Amusing as the idea of you two going off for a cycle ride and the hounds deciding to take themselves out for the day as well is, I can totally understand why Mr T is required to be out there in the drizzle putting the gate to rights! :rotfl:
I always forget how quickly your thread moves Tilly, always so much going on! Glad things are good though and good luck with your exciting new (expensive) purchase! No, not the much admired study bed, the second house for DD, sounds like a very good plan!
Sorry you've had work tears, that's not good. Glad you're making Christmas plans though so you've got lots of positives ahead, even if the daily grind is altogether pants!

Tilly - thank you, as ever, for your kindness and support

Now, did you get anything in the 'Italian' selection in mrL today? I got some of the risotto rice, and I hadn't realised that the red onions were on offer too, so got a couple of nets. Mushroom risotto will clearly feature heavily on the meal-planner throughout the rest of autumn and winter
May even ring the changes and make a butternut squash one! oooh, go me - :rotfl:

PS Thistlewhistle - I wish I was in Tamworth. I would loved to have heard the bells ringing out, knowing that an MSE'r was at the bottom of it all

Hi Greying, I may just have been drawn towards the Italian specials
. Risotto rice, mushrooms jumped in the trolley, spaghetti XXL pack. I almost bought the standard size, then saw the signage and went in the rampage to find XXL version
Sounds like we may have some 'snap' dinners throughout the winter.
You have reminded me that I have a butternut squash in the garage and quite fancy a soup for work lunches
I bought 3 rolls for DS and 2 have already gone  He is growing like a weed and I can't keep up with provisions quickly enough.
I picked up some leeks which looked glorious. I'm saving the sausages for next week and will serve with mash, leeks and gravy mmmmmmm

Hi Habibiboo, it just may be 68 sleeps

Gate is fixed thankfully
. Having two big dogs is a delight and they are mega affectionate. I'm not sure people would agree if they decided to pop out for the day on their own - one of them loves nothing more than a big cuddle and I can imagine her walking up to people and sitting very tidily waiting for a cuddle
Daily grind is pretty much pants - an excellent description
I hope you and Mr H are having a restful weekend.

What has been achieved today?
All bar two loads of washing are done. The remaining ones are quick wash/half loads. A new small pile of ironing has appeared.
FlyLady approach to weeding undertaken. Mr T has whizzed over the lawns to keep them tidy. A few bits which were past their best in the garden are now in the compost bin.
We worked SO hard at the gym - I felt weak when we'd finished
Food shopping is done, but not the inventory, menu plan. That will have to wait until tomorrow as both of us are completely weary now.
The weather picked up though and we even had sun.
Also fitted in a free cake and coffee at JL - I've heard their free offer is stopping but not sure when. Good job we worked so hard at the gym to make up for it.
Coinage paid into the bank and I'll OP that on Monday.
I'm going to have a sneaky rest now.

Morning, Mr T and I are walking with much difficulty today :rotfl:
One of our hounds thought she'd wake us up in the early hours  She has a history of being spooked occasionally, normally lasting a few days. I'm guessing there are fireworks going off and it's distressing her. Will be glad when bonfire night is well and truly over as both dogs will be beside themselves and the area seems to turn in a war zone.
Church today, bit more gardening, freezer inventory and menu plan. Ironing is looking at me as I type.
DD is coming home for a night this week. I hope she likes her bedroom. I've managed to get her a 30 minute survey paying £30 cash in hand, which equates to 3 weeks grocery shopping :T:T
I'm seeing a lovely chum on Monday for a catch up - we always have so much to cover, it must be comical for anyone listening.
I'd better crack on as the hounds won't walk themselves, although if Mr T hadn't fixed the gate, they could have done.
Have a great Sunday.
