Morning, yesterday evening didn't go according to plan - in any shape.
Work got in the way for both of us last night. Escalations galore and eventually stopped around 10pm - mental.
Fortunately I did manage to go to L!dl and have a full fridge, milk, veg, fruit. Dinner ended up being completely different as no time to cook - steak which I bought for a treat tonight, salad and SW chips.
Last night's menu has switched to this evening and we will eat as soon as DD is back from work. We are off to the cinema straight afterwards. I'm taking nibbles for the kids and drinks in a capacious handbag :rotfl:
Menu planning still not finished for May and I'm not enjoying that at all. I find it hard to shop and it definitely adds to the cost. Normally I can just grab a ready prepared shopping list and go.
Janey, I've PMd you about my beautiful hounds
Plans for the weekend - providing the rain holds off, most of our time will be outside :T. Walking, cycling, gardening. Mr T is doing some kick boxing with DS as well. - I'll keep out of the way at this point.
Jamie O 'Saving with Jami£' makes an interesting read - same plan as Economy Gastronomy - Paul Merrett is popular in this household - what it has done is give DD and DS confidence to have a go at making dishes. They are piecing together ideas for when they leave home. For example, DS thinking if I did A, then I could do B and C which is the principle behind both books. It led for some interesting chat between the kids last night. I did remind them they're not leaving just yet
Right, dog walking calls - enjoy the sun.

Thanks Tilly, I've PM'd you
It's such a pain when things don't go according to plan. I've failed to get my head round monthly meal planning but don't enjoy doing it weekly either

Janey xand interestingly everyone is a little frustrated by it - Mr T, me and the kids.
Maybe we should have a week of designing a menu plan and shopping list for someone else and swapping.Alchemilla wrote: »Tillys hounds are the perfect lapdogs.brizzledfw wrote: »Have a great weekend..we are also hoping for sunshine and will be outside at the Food festival for much of it
I hope you passed on GGs regards to Tom K - his weight loss is impressive.
I need to get a move on and collect DD. Will have a little mooch in the shop and pick something up to BBQ as a starter.
Happy days

What sort of hounds have you got, Tilly?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Hi Tilly,
Do you really cook from recipe books everyday. I am so mega impressed if so. I just seem to cook the same meals week in week out. Can't think what to eat etc.
Wouldn't know where to start and whenever I have done 'recipes' it's cost a small fortune etc.
You would think at 58 years old I would have done a little better lolLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

We've recently started meal planning again, it's going fairly well, and I find myself cooking a larger variety of styles than I was previously.
It's largely because we're reducing our meat intake, this week's shopping was all veggies and carbs with the exception of some grana padano and some salmon fillets :T
Works fine for a week, but a month at a time might be a bit too much!0 -
Try life as a veggie, Ed. You might might like it.0
