Hope you're feeling better and that El [STRIKE]nagged you the same as me[/STRIKE] gave you some some good advice :D.

  • Good morning, thanks for your lovely messages. 2014 has not had the best start and frankly, I'm looking forward to March.

Bank accounts checked and Mr T paid in coppers to the bank yesterday, as he was doing some banking for the kids. £1.37 moved to MOS :)

Dinner this evening is off piste, I have more peppers left than I thought - will make some type of stuffed meal. Probably in the tagine with some Moroccan spices.

Thinking of positive things - we had a little snow in the rain yesterday but it didn't stick; we aren't running out of anything so definitely no shopping required on Saturday.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

  • morning Tilly, it's a hard slog at this time of year isn't it? Hope things get better soon. Just was wondering if you actually cook in your tagine? i have one but have never dared use it - currently it's where we store all the phone chargers, but maybe i should try cooking it in? :rotfl:

  • Morning Kirsty, if it hadn't been for surgery and subsequent illness, I think I'd be feeling more upbeat. Sadly I feel weary and really struggling. I don't feel I've lost my mojo, just not well enough to have one :o

Re tagine, I use it frequently so don't leave it languishing. No clue which type you have but if its one you can use on the hob and in the oven, like mine, then I do the following. Fry off onions and spices, add veg (chopped to similar size) then add beef or chicken on top. Add the stock or wine, or water bring to a boil, then simmer with the lid on.

    Beat wishes, Tilly

  • Hi Tilly,

Sorry you're having such a miserable time at the moment. You really helped me out a few days ago with your wise advice so I'll repay the favour.
Take care of yourself - you can't steer the Tilly ship if you're under the weather. Hope you're feeling a little more resilient today.

I can relate to that. Cut yourself some slack, take it easy, and give yourself time to get better. Get extra sleep if you can. Excuse yourself from things that can manage without you, and don't take on anything extra.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Tilly, I've had (alas) lots of experience of struggling along and needing to take it easy when I'd much rather be my usual busy self, the only thing I can suggest is looking for tasks that'll make you feel like you're moving forward and getting things done but are actually a lot easier on your body and allow it to rest.

Reading, researching, learning new things, sitting down more often to do tasks (what task can you break up into small amounts and sort out/do at the kitchen table for instance). It's surprising what a difference it can make to your recovery when you break tasks down and pace yourself, even if it's terribly frustrating at first. Your body obviously needs some nuturing, so lots of pampering, snuggling up with relaxing music and generally treating yourself well & allow it to heal :) xx
