Great idea re NYE. Sounds fun..we will be in France :j so vin chaud for me :)

Battening down hatches this weekend but not weather wise..that was yesterday and the day before. It was really horrid. Financially I mean...I had planned to do a top up stocking shop but will resist. I want those pennies to go against the CCs..so whatever we have in is what will get used!

We will have a trip to the cinema today. Will be such a treat. It's in the middle of the big shopping centre in our city..but am not going in there..last Saturday before Christmas..can't think of anything worse! (Am I just old and grumpy or just too MSE:money::rotfl:)

Well, for the first time ever, I'm having main christmas food shopping delivered this year. Only slot available was today. So I've been trying to clear the freezer and cupboards down to make room for it all.
I say it all as I have ordered bulky stuff as well-thought I might as well whilst I'm at it.
The only other time I had a food shop delivered was when I went shopping to !celand with a friend many years ago. They said they could deliver it to save us trying to get it in the already full car boot-that was a bit of a fail really as we had it delivered to my friend's house and I still ended up picking it up from there.
Still got Christmas shopping to do and quite a few presents to wrap.
Hope shopping hurries up so I can get it organised and away-I have to confess I absolutely hate having to wait in for things. My mum used to wait in most days for different things-rent man, coal man, insurance man, butcher etc etc.
Has anyone had a coughing bug? it seems like everyone either has it or has had it round here. DD1 has had it, Mr tc is still fighting it off. DD2 and I have it at present, going to buy cough medicine today-after my delivery has been.
Sorry Tilly, for my mad ramblings in your diary. :o
Pleased you've got some decorating done. Enjoy what's left of your weekend off. :) xx

The coughing bug is here :(

I have never tried getting my shopping delivered but am thinking about it for the day after we get back from holiday, that way I can meal plan, get stuff as we go and not have to go shopping when we get home but can enjoy our last day off together.

No cough bugs but Miss T has gained a cold overnight - where do thy come from, at just the wrong time

Look after yourselves everyone - can't be ill for Christmas :)

TC, ramblings are fine, I do it all the time :)

Brizzle, DD thought it would be good if we went to the building society and had her savings book updated :eek:On the last Saturday before Christmas are you kidding :eek: I'll pop in early on Monday instead and that'll be bad enough.

  • What a lovely morning - ox cheeks with veg and red wine in the slow cooker; Nigella aromatic ham simmering on the hob. Mr T is making stollen and mince pies this afternoon.

The freezer is sorted, larder shelves tidied up and both fridges look ready for a siege.

Party last night was good fun.

Jobs for today: tidy up our bedroom, prepare dinner for this evening (spatchcocked and cooked in the oven with chilli, garlic and ginger), potato wedges and salad).

We will walk the hounds after church and then I'm bunging on a Christmas movie and menu planning for January.

I really feel like we have had a holiday this weekend :)

    Best wishes Tilly x

Hi, gammon cooked and smells fab. We will be eating some tomorrow and Xmas eve - rest will be frozen.

Really long dog walk and they are both fast asleep now :)

HM sausage rolls, stolen and mince pies ready :T

Mum is going to be inundated with visitors as we have a few meals planned with friends. Plus we will be leaving her with the kids for a couple of nights as we are out :)

Have a good night, Tilly x

  • Hi Tilly

As you know I'm a big fan of HFW - can I be nosy and ask what recipes you've chosen from RC everyday for your January meal plan?

    Thanks,
