Morning Ztan, we tend to save more adventurous cooking for the weekends as time is so short in the week
I have found that a bit of time spent preparing at the weekend, makes the meals in the weeks so much easier. Given that it is quite common for me to be on a con call whilst trying to cook, the less I have to do the better
No more snow and the big thaw seems to be on it's way.

Morning, money shuffles complete.
£14.25 rather large TT OP
Remaining £1k put into savings pot for refurbishment work we are having done. For next year I need to find about £16k for the next phase and no plans on how yet.
Dog food ordered on line with cashback
I'm on the lookout for a new CC with better cashback rate, will do some exploring.
So proud of DD, she has been saving her money since starting her job, leaving her limited money for spends, and splitting the rest into ISA and instant access. She has learnt a lot this last year. Poor DS wants a job too, but too young
Dinner this evening is vegetable risotto and tomorrow it's Fajitas using some of the chilli made on Sunday.
Then it's Thursday and a long weekend ahead :T:T:T

Morning Tilly! It's great that your children are so keen on saving from a young age. I had a bank account from quite young, and have always had a job of some sort since the age of 13 - I think if you learn the importance of saving at that age, you never forget it. I'm trying to instil the same kind of discipline in my own children, although they are much younger than yours so far too early for any kind of job. All birthday and Christmas money is saved in their bank accounts though, and they haven't yet asked for me to spend it on toys for them instead, so hopefully the message is getting through!
Have a lovely day Tilly!

Hi Tilly,
I had a good day off but no sign of the Postie. He's probably stuck in a 6ft drift somewhere. Perhaps the statements will come today.
Had a lovely lunch at the Russian Tea Rooms in Skipton. It was £38 for two of us but OH and I needed some quality time, not having seen each other since Friday because of the snow. The money came out of our Fun Fund! It was lovely though.
Today is a really full day. I'm off out at 8:30 and won't get back til after 10pm.
Hope your day is full of good things!!

That's so lovely Tilly, you must be proud as punch of your kids. I would be. I think a lot more parents need to lead by example. A lot of children are growing up, seeing parents living on credit and having "it all"... which is disasterous. My little brother unfortunately didn't learn any good habits and got himself into a right pickle with money. Had my parents been better examples he might have not gone so wrong so young.MFW 2010- £112,500 + 20% Equity Loan = £150,000 35 years

Morning all!
Tilly which dog food did you go with in the end? I watched Superscrimpers the other night and they found Asda value dog food was fine and a fraction of the price of anything else.
We use Chudleys and have done for a while, but i may have a look and Asda and let the hound have a taste test:D.
Great news on your kids moneysavvyness, i'd like a formula, you know save 80% (at that age when they don't have housing etc costs) and maybe 20% spend - any thoughts??Weight: need to lose 71lbs - lost to date 0lbs

Thanks CA, Ztan and Catshark, DD had her bonus paid on Monday as well and was overjoyed. She works a Saturday and one evening a week. It's been a big help as she considers purchases in relation to her income - helps the need not want discussion in her head.
Right back to today.
25p TT OP
Switched dinner last night and tonight, so it's risotto tonight
Have a viewing early next week for a lodger - I had 4 people interested and whittled by choice down to 1. If that doesn't work out will need to continue the search
I miss the Monday OPs from having a lodger and seeing the difference it makes each week
On a positive note, mortgage payment goes out tomorrow
I had hoped it would be a FLW from Friday but no news yet, plus it's way too cold to have a car boot at the moment so stuff will have to stay in the garage. Maybe the weather will be better for the next BH?

Morning PWD, typing very quickly as I have to jump in the shower :rotfl:
DD keeps the equivalent of £20 per week from her earnings and saves everything else. That means she can go to the cinema and out for a meal, with a voucher :rotfl:, once a week if she wanted. She normally does this once a month ish, so it allows her to build a buffer.
Dog food, currently BETA - via TCB, T!tmuss. 15g bags x 2 - we have large dogs
I haven't looked at Asd@ but will check it out.
