  • Green Metropolis can be ok at certain times of year (for example, folk going on their summer hols). That said, do work out the true reward for selling a book. I have stopped using it as it was working out at less than £1 'profit' after postage and packaging. Considering I typically wait 10 mins in the Post Office, I'd probably be just as well going to work instead :D

Hi Mr E,I must admit whenever I sell anything on line, or do surveys etc, I often think about my hourly rate, or what I'm selling for, vs purchased for. What it has made me realise is that now I rarely buy anything I don't intend to keep. No more holiday books, books which I would read once etc. I am a keen library lover now, even down to magazines. :)

I think it's one of the things we learn from this site, the need vs want. My wants have moved from 'stuff' to things like elephant garlic to plant in the garden, or a beautiful book of pictures. I guess you could call that a want not a need, but a book of our own photos is a treasure trove of memories :). Next autumn (bear in mind I plan all day at work, so for me that's almost our Q1 FY14 :o, we are doing a PhotoBook for each of the kids, from day 1 through the key stages. Babies, crawling, toddling, walking, running, dancing, music, the list goes on. However, it will be just one book each, with an e version just in case anything happens to the original.

Apologies Mr E, I went off on a tangent, which is quite normal for me :o:o

I can relate to what you're saying Tilly :)

In fact, I've moved so far from shiny wants since I began my journey that Mrs E joked that she needed to tape a conversation we had at the weekend because I said I needed to go clothes shopping!

I find the concept of 'freedom' to be oddly tangible these days, it's just the getting there that needs filled in around the edges :o

The photo book for your children is a lovely idea. I made one for my DD on her 21st birthday starting from birth up to her 21st - I just bought an album and spent happy hours cutting and pasting in photos and captions. I shed a few tears and marvelled at how quickly the years had passed.
One of her friends was over- heard saying at the party "I got a smart phone, jewellery and lots of cash for my 21st but I didn't get a birthday album and I want one" - I was very pleased as £ was tight and I couldn't give my DD anything very expensive, just oodles of my time and lots of my love!

What a beautiful thing to do.

Our kids have adapted well to this chapter of our life and definitely will appreciate the albums. It's going to be part of their Xmas gift :T

  • Morning, 51p TT OP, sadly no other news.

Out for a cheap meal tonight with DS and a good friend, so much catching up in order.

I'm hoping work's fairly quiet but this is unlikely. If only we could schedule quiet weeks during school holidays :)

Still waiting for payment from two eb@y sales. One is from Sunday, one from Friday. As Mr T is keen to get shot of these last couple of bits, it is frustrating.

I'm looking forward to getting all the stuff together for a car boot. It will be another de-cluttering opportunity and hopefully the final frontier to cross before reclaiming the other half of the garage (apart from the loo rolls).

Have a good day, Tilly x

  • Saw another article in the paper about research proving that having too much stuff clutters the mind as well as the home so you are gaining space, money and mental purity by ebaying!
