Hi Mrs T
I like the sleeps countdown too..only 4 days for me until we go on hols.. (I work part time though!..really its next Thursday that I break up)..very very soon:D
From yonks ago you asked me about the SC Turkish Lamb Pilaf..here goes..
Lamb and Pomegranate Pilaf - serves 4-6 (from the Slow Cook Book (£5 from a NT shop)
Brown 675g kebab sized pieces of lamb leg, (I used lamb steaks as had in freezer and cheaper) in a large pan. Set aside. Fry a finely chopped onion for 3-4 mins until soft. Season and then stir in 3 chopped garlic cloves, 1 tsp mint (says dried but not sure! would probably use fresh if you still have some after this cold snap), 1 finely sliced green chilli and 1 tsp gd cinnamon. Cook for 2 minutes and stir in 60g sultanas (I used raisins as had them in).
Stir through 350g of basmati rice (she says easy cook but I used the ordinary sort and just cooked for longer). put lamb back into pan. Pour in 600ml of hot stock and bring to the boil. Transfer everything into SC and cook on low for 2-3 hours until rice tender.
To serve: Stir through 60g toasted hazelnuts and finely chopped dill. Top with crumbled feta and pomegranate seeds (this really does make it!). Serving suggestion - green salad and pittas but I didn't think it needed that.
It was yummy. Dead easy and girls just hoovered it up. I generally don't like having to prep things before they go in the SC but this was worth it.
Sorry for the delay - just grabbing a lunch break between conference calls ;)and thought I'd catch up!

Hi Brizzle, I'll definitely have a go at the lamb recipe, it sounds fab :T
TallGirl, you lucky person being so close to your vacation and to have such a long holiday :j. I am intending doing the minimum during the vacation. Catching up with friends, relaxed menus and basically real family time. We all need that at the moment.
On a MF front, I have OPd 97p - I came over all unnecessary making such a large tidy up OP.
NSD achieved and four bags of clothes to return to the shops for relative, less than I had imagined which is good, but still a lot of running around.
Things are taking a turn at work and I am not sure I like the direction so may be considering job hunting in the New Year - big decision but I am a firm believer in change so will see how this pans out.

Change bad, change bad, change bad....... oops, sorry, just repeating the mantra from this morning's meeting .
Oh dear. Not good - but you've already put yourself in a much stronger position to make choices :T.
Change good, change good, change good :j.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi Mrs T
Well I am one of those who also likes change..relishes it in fact!!! out of chaos comes opportunity and all that:D
most of my recent jobs have been 18mths-2yrs or so before I got what I thought was a better offer and moved on. My only note of caution at the mo is that I have never seen anything like this downturn/recession/ depression..whatever you care to call it and if you have a well paid job which lets you work from home I would be really careful about swopping it. Nothing seems certain anymore...and thats scary so that's making a lot of people (aka employers) make some very bizarre short term decisions. I am seeing a lot of it, not particularly in my current company but certainly around my sector of industry.
Don't mean to get granny to suck eggs, just a word to the wise I guess. I really don't know what will make the economy turn just at the moment.
Sorry...bit downbeat there!!but just wanted to chip in!!
