Morning all, very nippy today, that's an understatement:D
Just about to go and sort the slow cook out. I put a beef casserole in before going to bed so need to prepare it for the freezer. Poor slow cooker, as then it's getting a chicken thrown in, veg etc and will be on again all day. That's what happens when the supermarket has offers, I felt obliged to buy them and stock the freezer.
We are off for a big dog walk today and hoping to have some time in e garden. It could do with a bit of a clean up before the weather gets much worse.
Have a great MFW day.

I love this quote Gally. Thanks for sharing it.
I have told it to so many people and still use it myself. The funny thing is, I met the guy who said it to me a number of years ago and told him how much it had helped me - he had no recollection of saying it :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Good morning, first job of the day is to move cash around from spends on Saturday. I like to know I have the money ready for my CC bill but that does require effort to do a bit of shifting. No prevarication in my life :T
My lodger pays weekly not monthly as this works out as an extra month a year - when placing the ads you have a choice of periods so we went with weekly. Useful for anyone considering lodgers. Monday to Friday seem quite different to long term lets, which pay monthly. They tend to be working somewhere on contract for a period etc so don't sign up for 6 months in advance etc, this flexibility has a cost. With a B&B people would come for a night etc, with no guarantee there would be a room the next week. This arrangement allows people to know the room is there for as long as they want it and can therefore leave clothes etc behind which makes their lives easier. Not sure why I felt the need to say this but I guess I feel guilty taking money over Xmas when people aren't working.
I feel a long dog walk is on the cards shortly before the rain and our volunteering start. Our girl loves running like a nutter through the woods that's the dog nt DD
I have a little ironing to get shot of, however, my kids must have heard me as there's only about half the amount. Fab.
No more major money tasks for today and it's a no or low spending day.
One thing is on my mind though, DD will be off to uni in 3 years and at that point do we look at a 3rd house purchase as a B2L - who knows but for now it is at the back of my mind.
Best wishes to all for the coming week.

Afternoon, another Cc has been closed down today, to reduce the amount of credit available to us. Part of this scares me as clearly it results in less credit but I should be seeing this as a positive.
Anyway, onwards and upwards to all, and I will check with any further updates later.

Goodness, DH and I have just completed a review of all CC. I thought we had completed this activity just before starting my diary, but we can't have done. We currently have 7 credit cards, excluding the one we have cancelled over the last day or so. Thank goodness they are empty, sceptic for our current usage cashback one. However, i don't think it's sensible to have that many, as it shows too much credit available.
Decision made, we will be closing 3 of them tomorrow morning. 2 of them are long standing ones which we have held individually so I would prefer to keep them going, the other two are our cashback and Tesc@ ones, so will be keeping them.
The plan to use a company for sending money abroad has now been set up. It is a regular monthly transfer which kicks off in January, with the first transfer abroad taking place in April. That way we reduce the charges to the minimum, it just means we have to take cash this trip to cover the first quarter of bills. Such a simple thing but one which will save cash next year, which in turn, will be used to OP. :T
That's all for now so night to everyone.

Morning, feeling a little nervous. I have just ordered Euros to be delivered tomorrow and have never ordered on line before. I have ordered through Sainsbobs and also used my nectar card and ended up with £50/60 more than my usual quick run to M&S because I forgot to order on line in time. I sometimes wonder where my home brain lives when I stop work. We have had a place abroad for years, you would think by now we had figured out that we had flights booked and were leaving soon, but no, it always seems a mad rush to the last.
However, order placed and delivery tomorrow to home address. Everything crossed that this works ok.
Family night tonight, as no activities and lodger is out partying with work and not coming home. Given how we all feel on this site, I think I would be booking a B&B if it were me, but I am not going to start giving MSE lessons as it impacts my OP income :rotfl:

Our cat comes to visit for a few hours every day, gets some food, has a wee sleep, comes to get clapped and then fires off home (doubtless for more of the same)
Sorry just had to ask - do you mean clapped as in :T???
I've been racking my brain and i just can't think of anything else or why you would clap the cat? :rotfl:Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Good news on the Euros from Sainsbobs, I could use my nectar card, so hopefully will see some points appear.
Regarding Billy's clapping comment, I guessed he meant fed but I could be wrong - we have a similar phrase in the Black country.
I can see no other opportunity for saving money now this side of Xmas so I would like to wish you all a fab Christmas, and a healthy and MFW New Year.
Thanks to everyone for your help, advice, tips etc over the last couple of months, it has really helped focus the Tilly household's collective brains.
