  • MRN, round peg/square hole sounds familiar, but I am hopeful that it will be ok.

Hi HDK, you are doing so well with your plans. It is a frustrating old journey.

    Best wishes Tilly

As long as the diameter of the round peg is smaller than the side of the square peg, it will be fine :D

If we assume that the peg is the endowment policy and the hole is the mortgage... then Tilly ideally needs the peg to be larger than the hole so that the left-over money can go into savings and she can give up work sooner and keep MrT happy too!:rotfl:

  • Hi US and MRN, given the ludicrous and extremely frustrating day I have had, your comments made me laugh out loud.

    Thank you both, Tilly x

  • Lol Tilly, I've just replied to the marrow fest on MRN's thread and popped across here and the first post on this thread is about marrows :rotfl:
Oh no, what if us girlies are all too busy gossiping about our Mortgage Free efforts while the silent men are actually getting on with it?

:D Yes, there does seem to be more women on here then men though maybe that is just what it feels like, we do have FB, Froggy and LincolnPotter to name but a few. I know I have seen a few men they can't get their wife to stick to a budget/plan meals etc etc so I'm not sure if gender plays a part or whether we think it does? I think what is true is that we all have different motivators and - and again I'm going to generalise here - it seems that men get interested when they can see the results e.g. we've saved £X/years already' than in getting involved in the planning stages etc
I feel like I should play a fanfare.............

I am only keeping my spending diary and the equivalent of my SOA going on the spreadsheet front. Everything else is stopping :eek::eek: I had reduced sme of my tracking, ie small OPs previously but this is a radical change. Best wishes Tilly x

I don't know who you are and what you have done with our Tilly but we want her back :rotfl:

  • Lately, I heard someone talk about preponing a meeting.

US, you can't leave me hanging like that, what on earth is preponing supposed to mean, I can't even guess :p
Hi ATT, you have triggered a memory, one USism on a call on Friday afternoon. I can't recall the word but it will come to me. It certainly does not exist in the Oxford English :rotfl: I was in the office at the time and laughed out loud. [Tilly]

Have you remembered the word Tilly ;)
Your heating bills must be sky high but given my age, I am permanently boiling, much to the frustration of my kids. They sit with a throw over their laps, and I am sitting in a t shirt :)[Tilly]

I think if I had a normal home life they would be sky high but as I'm away a lot it's not too bad, for many now I don't think I've had an electricty bill higher than £10 per month at most. My gas averages c. £40 per month and it's not something I'm prepared to skimp on and I hate having too many layers on as it makes me feel all uncomfortable.

Lol re your age, I remember when much younger working in a office full of ladies who all described it as having tropical moments, even in the depths of winter they had to have the windows open, air-con on and fans going, was a nightmare for me :snow_laug

Good to hear from you and get your in box emptied  Tilly x x [Tilly]

Yes, plenty of space now though some still to reply to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Morning ATT, the USism word has not popped back into my mind - no doubt the guy will use it again :)

I put my electric blanket on last night :snow_laug. DH couldn't believe I was cold. However I still had the bedroom window open.
