Thanks Billy, it is going to be quite an event and we are all looking forward to it, as opposed to feeling the sadness from the funeral. We had a meal just after the funeral to celebrate, however, this one is a formal occasion and should be quite an event. My father was certainly a little on the mischievous side, and ALWAYS found laughter/fun at every possible opportunity. From posh balls, to drinks with the lads no event went without a little additional something from Dad. So two people's lives to remember will certainly bring a few smiles.
Great though, to look back on a childhood and adulthood of such fun and certainly not many dull moments.
I have been keeping up with your diary and it's all going great guns. Good luck but really, I think you are creating your own luck, which really is the way to go.

Ironing complete and just off for the next cuppa and toast. Wardrobes no longer covered with clothes to be ironed, bed made and no ironing at the foot, chair empty etc. however, DH did just pop his head round the door to say 'more ironing coming soon from the TD'......:eek:
Have fun all.

Hi PWD, thanks for your lovely words. How fab to hear about the stories of your aunts younger days. I think there are many things to learn about enjoying life and living in the moment from people of a certain age group. I mentioned a post or two up about my Dad, and he would have been like your aunt but in the midlands instead. He was quite a well known character and definitely up to stuff he wouldn't want to repeat to his 'girls', but I think that's fantastic, and I certainly have a story or two to tell myself.....
I will be catching up on diaries this evening, as now I have NO ironing to do when we get home.

Hi Tilly, really sorry to hear about your Dad, and also the other recent loss. I hope you have a really lovely day to add to all the other wonderful memories of them (((HUG)))Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Hope you have a nice time with your family today Tilly.
Also, it seems that you are very quick at ironing. Do you want to do mine? I have 3 laundry basket loads of ironing and I've just put another load in the washing machine :rotfl:.1 -
Hi SD and Sepa74, it has been a marvellous day. Many happy memories shared and much laughter. I think it did us all good and although it will take time for the pain to replaced by just the joy of good memories, it has begun the journey of the first anniversaries which are difficult. So tomorrow would have been Dad's birthday, and we certainly raised a glass or two for him.
Now, onto happier topics....... Back home safe and sound, heating turned up to 20, normally about 17/18 but is jolly cold. DH is making a cuppa for me and I am snuggled on the sofa with my feet up.
I laughed about your ironing comment, as I am a quick ironer, plus I find it really relaxing. I am probably sounding quite mad now, but taking a jumble of crumpled stuff and making it neat, makes me feel hugely happy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Best wishes to you all on this Sunday evening and good luck for the coming week. Just reminded myself I need to get something out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow evening, so need to get unsnuggled.

You're an inspiration Tilly, such a positive person, I really enjoy reading your diary. Sending hugs...

Thanks LB, I do feel that this diary is helping on a number of fronts. Once you make your commitment to become MF, using a diary seems to solidify your plans. Although we are a virtual community, I would not want to let anyone down, nor my family, so it is very motivating.
Anyway, I will be stopping by your diary to check out whether your handbag buying resolve has stayed firm. I used to be like that with shoes, and I have some beautiful ones which should be in a display cabinet I think. Anyway, my need to be MF has risen above my shoe longing, and I never thought that would happen. Perhaps that could be on my treat list for when we reach MF status.......
Thanks for your support.

Evening to all, been a busy day in the Tilly household, lots of work but DH is now busy in the kitchen baking, marvellous :j
I checked the bank today and CC DD has gone out for the biggy so now all spends paid for, and balance in bank bucket for the next one. It does help my brain to know the money is hidden and in waiting.
I will be paying council tax to tomorrow on line, so that's another amount to add to the cashback balance.
So that's all the good news, the door is being fitted midweek, so that's a chunk of cash to disappear. DH broke down in the car so that's an unexpected cost of £300 however, the car maintenance bank bucket has the cash ready to fund it. I love my buckets :j. Years ago, it would have been a mad scramble to find the funds but not now.
Determined to get below £299k before mortgage switches so have upped savings to help that. It does mean that something has to give, so grocery fund is being reviewed again. Along with birthday/Xmas budget for next year. Should be able to lift a £100 from the latter and hopefully £250 ish from the former. Goodness I can't wait to move, trying to pay any amount off with the 'Spanish' bank. No idea how they handle their mortgages but :mad::mad::mad:
Anyway, only 3 more mortgage payments to make and we switch, that sounds for more motivating.
I used the ASd@ price guarantee site today and was awarded £3.57 and £5/£40 spend so that was excellent news. When I look back and think how irresponsible we we before, just by being ignorant really, I could spit, however, better to have mended our ways now than not. :T
Sounds like DH has popped baking in the oven as I just heard those special words "do you want a cuppa?" so off to meet him in the kitchen.
That has just reminded me, many years ago, I ordered an anniversary card for my parents from moonpig. A picture of an elderly bloke and his elderly wife, and he was saying those 3 magic words to her. "What's for tea?". Must be my childish sense of humour but it did make me laugh, along with Mom and Dad.
Right, off now so goodnight to all, and good luck with your journeys. It's a but like an addiction programme on here, every day has to be treated as though it's a new start/clean sheet. BTW, I have no personal experience just in case anyone thinks I have been getting help for my shoe buying addiction, which has long since been knocked on the head (or foot).

Afternoon, just had a call cancelled, so I am now finished for the day. I am just going to wrap a couple of presents for DS, I am guessing that is what will happen as he has just asked if I can help........I will get him on Sellotape duty.
Veg prepped for veggie Chinese this evenings with noodles. DS will no doubt ask where the meat is but he will have to manage. Both kids are consistently unplugging their phone chargers now so that's a little more progress.
Car back from repairers and all fixed, much quicker service than expected, so also good news.
My mom has given me an old Singer sewing machine. Does anyone else suffer from this type of guilt. I don't really want/need it, as I have a sewing machine, which gets used maybe twice a year, BUT I feel bad giving it away, or worse still selling it. That means I have something else to go up in the loft and one day the ceiling will fall on my head:eek:
In circa 10 years we will be moving out of our family home and prior to that we will have the arduous task of clearing the loft - how on earth do we do this? The boxes we keep, just in case, the keepsakes etc etc. . . the list is endless.
Right, DH has just popped more ironing in, now which one of you is sending your washing in for me to iron? It surely can't be all ours:eek:
