Evening, I do not know where today went. Worked from home, mostly on con calls with the US, and I now think I am as thick as two short planks. I understand the gist of what they were saying but that's it. Why oh why does everything have to be so complicated and convoluted.
Anyway, had to pop to the supermarket as our fruit disappeard - that's a story for another day. Bargainous milk, fruit, veg, meat galore so I spent £7 ish and came away overflowing with stuff and freezer is rammed again. Not sure it will ever empty for me to defrost it. However I saw the 'multi discount 50p off fuel thing' and cannot believe how much they have up the price up on things like squash. Do they seriously think we are that stupid? The guys over on the couponing thread are amazing, but I have yet to get my head round it all.
In the office tomorrow, so packed lunch made in readiness. Hopefully tomorrow will be better
:)

Morning, dog walk completed and kids still asleep - oh to be young :rotfl:
Free theatre event tomorrow evening for us all, that was a surprise.
Had a little tidy up of the bank account - £3.51 OPd. £/Euro exchange rate is looking good (for us), so money will be sent overseas on 1 August - we should end up with over £70 more than normal, down to the rate which is excellent.

What a glorious day it's been and work has been significantly better than the past few weeks - lets hope it continues in the same vein.
Bargainous steak, HG potatoes, never ending salad, zsjjed (how do you spell that) up with chilli flakes, pine nuts, home made bread rolls. Lovely
Friday seems to have come round rather swiftly - more life discussions taking place this weekend. As we see the mortgage drop it is encouraging a host of creativity, in terms of the next chapter of our lives. Who knows where it will end up :T
Off for a dog walk now - air is cooler so the dogs should enjoy it. I love watching them run around, does the heart good.

The air smells so beautiful this morning - i am certainly a morning person

Friday has arrived and I took cash out of the bank last night to use for shopping this evening. I will pop into C@stco on the way home from work to do some shopping. The salad and potatoes, soft fruit, herbs in the garden have saved me quite a bit over the last few weeks. I am making pesto this evening as the basil plants are going mad, and will serve with spaghetti.
Kids will do their ironing today :T
Off to walk the hounds.
Will OP difference between budget and spend for food - this is encouraging me to spend less.
I am definitely getting tired of the supermarkets and their shenanigans to make us part with more money. As Saturday is a quiet day, I intend sitting and reading the coupon threads. I admire the way people make them work, I just don't seem able to do this consistently. So that's my challenge - its going to be sunny, so sun lounger, shade, iPad and I will research.
Have a fab Friday and enjoy the Olympic opening.

Pasta with pesto was fab - shopping done and off to the theatre - will there be anyone there I wonder?
Kids have finished their own ironing :T
Busy day at work but no cash parted with - I am looking forward to lounging in the garden this weekend so the weather had better stay good. I have a good book I want to get stuck into and I need to take some time out to relax.
Have a great weekend and hope the opening ceremony is amazing - we are recording it to watch later.

Morning, dreadful admission to make - I have only just got out of bed  When we got back in last night we carried on watching th opening ceremony and very late night.
I can't remember if I said I had OPd the lodger food money but I did that yesterday, plus I have tidied £1.27 away as an OP and I need to check state of accounts after Monday as I have SO payments going out. The last few months have been quite tricky as we have had work dne, saved for some things, and it's only recently that we are getting back to normal.
We do need to buy DS some jeans but this is a never ending struggle 1 ones I bought recently had to go back, not skinny enough in the leg
We discussed our attitude to money as a family last night, and every one of us recognises that we have changed - even DS :T. It was an interesting discussion about not cluttering your lives up with stuff, and what is really needed in order to be happy. Quality vs quantity came into the discussion as well. Lending a hand to others when needed. My DS asked what if no-one helps us, even after we help others. That started the beginning of meta physical discussions which will no doubt, long continue. Proud of them both, and of DH who has come a long way on his money journey too,

I don't often go shopping as it drives me mad. However, today I tackled the sales with all the family. Miraculously I returned with 3 tops all under £6 each :T:T:T
Plus I banked the copper jar - 86p to be OPd.
The seafood sauces, last pickle, and remainder of a bottle of Pimms have all been used up so more room in the fridge.
Potatoes from the garden for dinner were beautiful. The mint I transplanted recently is starting to grow - long may it continue.
We have been volunteering and the dogs had a great time - air smells lovely at the moment.
I think that's all for now.

Hi Tilly,
Well done with the clothes shopping - bargains.
Do you actually make an OP of 86p or does it get put away in a seperate pot to be op'd when you have a larger amount?
tjpIf Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters1 -
Morning TJP70, I really did OP 86p
. I have an offset FD account and my approach has been to both save in the offset but also physically OP, as it helps my mind. I often switch the pennies from my current account to the mortgage. It has surprised me how it mounts up.
Delighted with my tops - not often I find bargainous clothes so it was a real result.

Tilly sounds like you are going great guns at attacking the mortgage- well done!!
Your dinners sound yummy and healthy with the added bonus of being home grown in parts too!
Hope you get some chance to chill out with your book in the sun1
