Morning Ammonite, sun is definitely disappearing from tonight - this summer really is quite dreadful and it is confirming our view to want to move abroad when we retire
.
Really glad we had dinner outside last night, we definitely have to take advantage of every opportunity at the moment.

Too true Tilly - winters are fine(ish) - they're supposed to be rubbish, it's the summers that get you down
. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi GG, it's the grey sky isn't it - putting up with it in the winter is one thing, having to put up with it in the summer, drives me mad

Morning, NSD today, b
money from entertainment pot doesnt count, but I did order some bedding from the John L£wis sale yesterday. I have waited for the sale and also checked the Christmas sale (sorry clearance they don't do sales
). Pleased that the one I have had my eye on finally hit the reductions.
Taking cash from the entertainment budget as final GCSE takes place today, so we off to a restaurant for dinner. It's great to know that's one down, one to go. Plus the remaining junior Tilly won't be caught up in the education reform, as will just scrape in the year before - what a relief.
My humongous mountain of potatoes has reduced, and I only have 4 left. Now I will be saying I am short  I have had a campaign of using up the jars of stuff in the fridge - different chutneys, some bought, most HM, mustards, salad cream - bought for my Dad one Christmas - no idea why I keep these things but I hate throwing them away. So I am going to use salad cream, tomato sauce for an old fashioned prawn cocktail, I just need to keep my eye out for bargainous prawns. On a separate note, these jars weigh heavy and the door's shelves are full, so definitely need them used up. It's quite a challenge to find things to do with them, but it's keeping me amused. These days nothing gets thrown away.
My freezer is emptying and I will be defrosting next week. If the weather is this awful I may as well get some husekeeping jobs done. After that I need to do more batch cooking. This is quite odd as normally I batch cook from October through May but then the freezer contents change more towards BBQ stuff. That could be bargainous steaks, sausages, salmon, chicken etc, or may not not bargainous just good offers. However, with the weather the way it is, we still want chillis, lasagne, veg/chicken curries etc. It does feel a little frustrating but I guess it keeps me busy.
That's it for now. Lodger money is going as direct payment off the mortgage each week, food bills are as low as I can get them at the moment, and next big task will be to restock the freezer.
Best wishes, Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Morning TYO, it was a very happy evening and such a relief that the exams are now over. New chapter starting :T
Rain has subsided but the wind is pretty strong - we normally eat salads most days but at the moment it just feels too cold

GCSEs and A-Levels are the worst exams to prepare a student for the outside world or university IMHO. Students at universities don't have the necessary skills, even basic essay writing skills when they arrive. I can't even see that these reforms will improve anything though! Anyway good luck Tilly Jnr!
Our weather is the same!1
