Has everyone got clean spreadsheets or brand new notebooks ready? I always get ridiculously excited about the first of a new year :rotfl:
Miss Tilly and I have emptied the freezer, sorted, returned stuff neatly and completed an inventory. I’ve menu planned through to first week of February and I have budgeted £5 per week for milk and fresh fruit and L!dl/Ald! fresh veg. That is all we need to buy. I’d quite like to continue this challenge through to end February if possible. Time will tell.......:T
We start the reno on our house this year and Mr T is 50 in the Spring  I know I’ll be spending more time in Portugal in the coming year as Mr T wants me to oversee work. Oh what a sacrifice I’ll have to make. It should have started in Autumn last year but we had o delay due to some family health problems. All sorted now and we can focus.
Any chance 2018 can go slightly slower than 2017? I’m sure we all feel the same but boy the year races by.
Mr T liked the Skoda but as it’s a brand new car, he doesn’t want the depreciation. We are looking at similar cars but in conjunction with Mr Tilly junior who will very likely be buying the car off us when we vamoose abroad. At least this way we know Mr T will be happy with his car, I won’t be worried about breaking down and DS will have another car on the horizon.
Mr T bought me a Christmas gift but was sadly ripped off. He’s pretty hacked off but the economical January will replace the money and thus we won’t feel out of pocket.
Isn’t it lovely that the nights are already drawing out. Every minute of extra light is an absolute joy. This time last year we were planning a house move and now we can look forward to a clean year ahead with no life changing events scheduled. Obviously the universe tends to throw stuff around but we can take it in our stride.
We have a few breaks scheduled so far and are aiming for a trip somewhere every month. This could be a trip abroad, a long weekend, or a day trip in the U.K. We both feel that ‘a change is as good as a rest’ and it will give us something to look forward to. 3 people close to us have died recently, all our age group, and that really does remind one to enjoy life.
I hope everyone has a good New Year’s Eve, whether that’s out partying or staying at home. Wishing good health, joy and peace for 2018.

Hi Tilly, great to hear from you. Glad to read that you are settling in nicely
I'm hoping to post more often in 2018, as I've really missed the supportive community on here.

I am so enjoying the extra daylight. It feels like 20 minutes in the afternoon but I am probably kidding myself.0

Sounds like you have a great year ahead. Happy new year to you all. XPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Afternoon, quick catch up. What news?
The new freezer we bought when we moved has had to have surgery. Engineer came out to inspect and is replacing a drawer and runners this week. Not impressed with the quality
Mr T has bought a car. It all came to a head when his existing one literally gave up the ghost. Whilst it could have been fixed we both lost confidence in it. Now have a new one that almost drives itself. DS is happy that it’s ear marked for him when we vamoose.
Menu planning is going well and the freezer is earning its keep. Portions are still reduced and none of us feel hunger :rotfl: 42lbs off :T
The amount of rain we’ve had in the last few days has been madness and I am wondering whether we should build an ark. Fortunately the longer term forecast seems to show a big improvement next week. On the plus side, all the bulbs are popping up and it will look glorious when they start flowering.
Money saving - I’ve managed to claw back the cash on Mr Ts dodgy purchase due to limited food purchases :T
Health - all signs of flu, colds, coughs, aches etc have gone and the entire Tilly household are feeling perky.
Giving -I’ve collected loads of clothes for the homeless centre and am donating them this week. All washed, dried and ironed. Donation to food bank going in tomorrow. 2 items purchased from CS - I'm counting that under giving.
Green - compost is doing well and everything which can be reused, recycled or given away ‘is’. Gardening club starts next month and I’m looking forward to swapping seeds etc. Lettuce seeds are being planted in two old tree containers in order to have salads regularly. 2 pots, 2 x successional planting should give us salads through to June.
Challenges- not enough time for all the fun stuff up here. With Mr Ts shooting and photography; our dancing and gardening; my, and sometimes our, walking; my volunteering and finally visits to NT which we have joined for a year, it’s hard to fit everything in.
Good news - Miss Tilly has passed her driving test. We were beginning to think she wouldn’t :rotfl: She now tootles hither and thither.
I hope everyone is either well or are on the road to recovery; keeping their Tilly Tidies going and lastly taking time out to laugh. This is a long old slog and sometimes we all lose track of enjoying the journey

Evening, if anyone know where the free film thread hangs out could you let me know please? I am guessing they’ve opened up a FB group and I’d very much appreciate any help and advice.
