Offers such as the one in my local express maybe - selected beers £2.14 or two for £5.
Also my local Sainsbury has Glenmorangie with a substantial discount... On a ridiculously high price that I I've never seen charged any where.0 -

of course the guy was silly to write the price down.
what he should have done was fire up his compareshopper.com app and see the price of the bottled water on his screen. along with other stores prices.
then, he would have to call security and say in a loud voice "security, could you please direct me to the nearest exit. I can buy this product cheaper at asda. thank you!"0 -

Perhaps this ongoing campaign of exposure

It's called competitive pricing.I have done it when i worked in other shops. The other shops don't like it but usually don't kick up a fuss as they all do it.0

Having worked for Tesco in the 70's up to the mid 80's I found this hilarious, because they used to send staff out with huge lists to check out the prices of the opposition (Sainsbury and Waitrose)
And why did he have to go in with a list when he could have just gone to my supermarket to check the prices on-line ?Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I suspect this journalist to be an official knob. Why go to Tesco and write down the prices? Just log in to Tesco online and start filling your basket. You can then cut and paste/screenshot prices with no fear of being told off.
dear oh dear. Some people really like to make work of it. :rotfl:0 -
Some years ago, I was writing prices down in a supermarket when I was stopped and then threatened by a member of staff. It came very close to an assault.
Unfortunately, I was working for Trading Standards at the time and was investigating some of their price comparison claims. it's their shop people have no god given rights to go in and go whatever they wish, they can refuse admittance or ask you to leave if they like
Sorry but you we (the public) are buying from them (Tesco). You clearly have not heard the expression that 'the customer is always right'. Disgraceful place, I loathe going there. I went there (only because I had a two hours to wait for my daughter to go to a movie) and decided to buy some fireworks especially as there was an offer, buy for 50.00 and get petrol at 5p off. I bought my groceries, (approximately 35.00) and put them in the car, then went to buy the fireworks. I was told that I could not include the firework purchase towards the deal as they were two separate transactions. Goodness, 11 minutes apart. Tried talking to the so called 'customer manager' etc etc but as with all dealings (or should I say complaints) with T, no progress. Misrepresentation at its best although pretty typical. No wonder its the first time in 4 years I have shopped in Tesco. It will be a very frosty Friday before I go again. Movie or not!!0 -

I think the deal is linked on the till though, so only when £50 is put through the till does the 5p voucher print. Not a lot the staff could do I imagine if you put two shops through at less than £50.i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour0
