  • I bought some discount canvases from a sale at the works, already had acrylics paints, I started painting my close friends and family paintings of things they like in June, only got a couple more to do now. Cheap and thoughtful :)

    ...by the way, if anyone can think of other Scottish things I can put in my mums hamper please post them :)

    I'm in Scotland.

    You could try Moffat toffee, Edinburgh Rock, Scottish honey/Marmalade/Jam, irn bru, haggis, Highland toffee, Caithness Glass, Oatcakes with a Scottish cheese (Lockerbie cheddar), Abernethy Biscuits, Miniature of Drambuie.........................

    ..........that's all I can think of but should be something there to give you an idea.
    Personally I do not like Edinburgh rock but Moffat toffee is the best :)

  • Linz - get her a heather plant :-)

    I've been upfront with my relatives that we're broke and we've all agreed to a fiver limit for each person. This is great and actually makes me think harder about what to spend my pennies on that they'll love.

    Great idea for a thread;

    Brother - a home made sweety hamper. Been trawling Wilko, Poundland and newsagents for rainbow drops, curly wurlys, refreshers, love hearts etc, candy cigarettes, wham bars etc. Will work out sub-£10 I think.

    :)

    Love this idea, will make a hamper like this for hubby as he's so difficult to buy for but loves sweets. :)

  • Never thought of putting together a hamper style present - MIL likes lavender so I think I'll do one in this style. Already got a purple bed jacket - offer at Tesco.
    Always got children in family selection boxes but thought they are a rip off so will do small sweet hampers - got some bits left from Halloween!!;)

    Does he have a favourite film ?

    You could also do a film night in hamper, dvd, popcorn, doritos, coca cola/his favourite beer, m&m's/maltesers, nibbles etc.
