Not in debt but a MSEer nonetheless. This Christmas, as all others so far:
All of the family - nil in material things (unanimous decision); they get my lovely company instead (which costs £100 in flights). If I really want to push the boat out, i'll bake some shortbreads. Phew!0 -
...by the way, if anyone can think of other Scottish things I can put in my mums hamper please post them

I was in lidl yesterday and saw a large pack of haggis and black pepper flavoured crisps, we got a pack as they were unusual but hav'nt tried them yet. im sure they were 99p but not 100% sure.
we make a list of everyone we have to buy for and give them our own limit making it equal so siblings on both sides all get the same, all parents get the same etc. then go and see how many little presents we can get everyone for that amount. normally from car boots, charity shops and sales. we enjoy the hunt and everyone has lots of pressies to open. the trick is to make sure its stuff they need/ will use. no point in spending money on stuff for it to sit in a cupboard and eventually get charity shopped!Just the mortgage to go = £255,000 Aug 230 -
This is how it is looking.
Brother - making a waistcoat
SIL, SILs mother, 3 female friends - scarves from Primark. Were £4, now about £2.30. Plus nail varnish bought with No7 voucher.
Dad?
SIL and cousin - copy of book 'Living Dolls' about £4 on Amazon (very good for anyone teaching girls or who has a daughter).
Very cheap.

Strange Christmas for me, cos the first time for years that Im not cooking dinner and having all the family around!! but DD1 has campervan related things, a doormat from my holidays and a xstitch picture I made and had framed, DGD I always buy her a winter coat and this year shes having barbie and ken dolls bought in Sainsbury sale last January, DD2 and family live abroad so have been sending gifts, Euros and Sterling all year with people who have visited her, and my youngest is going to be the most expensive with a Pandora charm (but thats all shes getting - didnt realise how expensive they were), and her husband I think I am going to do one of those famous hampers, just got to decide on a theme, friends etc are getting small homemade pressies and all cards and gift tags are home made as well, Oh and my stepfather is getting the usual hamper full of food he likes but wont buy and booze cos he is 88 and has everthing he wants!!! Oh and my Christmas present from DD3 is a stay at hers with all the food and drink I can fit in me with no washing up etc for a couple of days, oh bliss!!!!£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0

I'm making most of my christmas presents (I crochet and make jewellery). Most of the wool I'm using is from my stash of stuff I've bought for previous projects that didn't work out or never got made etc.. I'm topping this up with a few other presents I bought in the January sales.Debt free as of 28/11/11 :j

Try places like Dunelm Mill, B&M's, Home Bargains, Jysk, the Range, even charity shops may have some. Failing that I've been known to use small boxes, like shoe box size and cover them in Xmas paper & cellophane/ribbons. Florists will normally sell you a roll of cellophane, if not ebay will have some.

Oh, by the way, charity shops are good places to look for pressies the week after Christmas or in the New Year, when people give in their unwanted presents. I've had loads of cheap but posh toiletry sets from them#39 - Save £12k in 20250
