I set up two scheduled payments on Friday, one for the 8th (tomorrow) and another for the 11th. Just logged into Nat West online to check that everything looks Ok and the payment for the 8th is not showing. Anyone else noticed anything missing?:(

I’ve noticed that 2 DD’s didn’t go out today. One of these was to Orange for my OH’s phone and the other was a CC payment. Both were done manually, but that’s not really the point!

Direct debits never leave an account on a Monday.

They would have left your account on Saturday dated for Monday.

This is for tomorrow, which would probably explain it. As already stated, I’ve had a drink tonight!

I think you’ll find that where there are severe problems that may endanger life, my opinion changes substantially.

I feel that from the news today, as an ex-CAGger, there should be action taken against the fireworks organisers if they are found to be at fault, however.

How can organisers of Firework displays be held responsible for accidents due to smoke ? Can they control the wind direction ?

If they can't control or predict the direction of wind they should ensure to keep the display down to a level to have no possibility of affecting highway visibility irrespective of wind direction.

"OH, there's the M5 60 feet that way. Don't know which way the wind will blow so let's have a massive bonfire and say 'well, we couldn't be sure it WOULD blow it over there so I guess we did nothing wrong' when over half a dozen people die".

    How reckless and irresponsible.

It's like saying "I'll fire this rocket blindfold, which has a 1 in 10 chance of hitting a house and blowing it up. If it does, it's not my fault, because I didn't see which way it was pointing".

This century, actions have consequences but the consequences are someone else's problem.

My exact point. My moaning isn’t affecting anyone else, except maybe the sanity of the persons working in the coffee shop I’m frequenting at this precise second. When it’s an issue of ‘it could kill someone’ then someone needs to take responsibility.

Yes, I’ve been part of a firework display at the side of the M11, as this is where our units were, however apart from a stray firework nearly setting fire to the roof of a convertible car one year (which by the way, WOULD have been my fault), we ensured that there would be no smoke blowing onto the carriageway in a manner that would be dangerous.

If there was any danger of this, the fireworks would either be postponed or moved to an area where the risk would be removed. It’s as simple as that! :T
