On the subject of credit cards please please everyone no matter how broke you are always try & pay your credit card bills off every month NEVER just pay the minimum payment you'll end up in a terrible mess if you do that.
My dad taught me well. He always said never to buy what you can't afford. There are obvious exceptions such as a house and sometimes a car but there's no excuse for spending more on materialistic items (or booze) than you earn every month.
Mind you dad did also say to get cards with good deals and juggle them about but I can't be bothered with the hassle. The only reason I even got a credit card was because one of my previous jobs would only pay expenses when you had receipts and that included flights & hotels which for a few days in London could be quite a bit at short notice.
Grrr !!!!!! these are the ones that didn't go through as B1G2F in store and they wouldn't even honour the offer never mind DTD. Is the only way to get the offer to buy online?0 -

OK sorry. I didn't realise that:o
Great advice no matter how obvious this seems. When OH and I were first married we had to put loads on credit cards just to get by but realised it was madness. We eventually cut up our cards and accepted that we would only spend what we had to spend. We've never looked back and once we got ahead of the game we could use a credit card to get maximum advantage without paying interest. I think I've always been an MSEr at heart before MSE existed.:)
Did a lot of jobs when I was in the bank, I always found it interesting when I was on the till reading people's credit card bills most had two or three cards up to the limit and were just paying off the minimum payment, it was hairaising to say the least I dread to think in these days of recession where people still seem to be flinging money around right left & centre what these bills look like.
I also used to do the unpaid cheques, the same people were having cheques bounced all the time and paying massive charges everytime I had to send one back.
I always enjoyed watching Martin's predecessor on T.V. Alvin Hall spoke a lot of sense.0
