  • Good Evening,

I have been looking at MSE for a while now and like many others and am rather disheartened by the apparent "ownership" some of you feel you have over people who do not post on this site.

I believe and am 100% certain that this site is free and anyone can view it. Indeed anyone can purchase any item from any store, all you need is the money.

It appears that quite a few people who post on here are transfixed by their own self-importance and think they are some sort of higher being. Bitterness is an incredibly divisive and soul destroying mental approach to any situation.

Given the current financial climate everyone is looking for a bargain.....

I took great please in visiting the tesco Long Eaton a recently after seeing a post on scarves. There were loads at 4p. The person posting seemed to be trying to pass a coded message to their friend without letting everyone know about this "glitch". While in store i saw someone else (obviously an MSE viewer) looking for the same thing as I was so we helped each other. She bought some scarves for her family and i bought the rest. All 27 of them. I propmtly then took them to the local cancer charity shop and gave them all away. The gobsmacked person on the counter just stared aghast as she looked at the tags and new labels. Hopefully the money raised will really help people with genuine need rather than total greed.

I intend to continue to do this....Because I Can!

For those of you who continue to perpetually whinge and think you are some kind of higher being because you post on a thread have no god given right to think you are the only people in the world who have the right to "engorge" yourselves in glutony

Is your name Phil by any chance?

I think we all know we would end up with a phil or some other lurker it's common sense that we would be watched in forums. Personally i think they are just looking out for large DTD glitches like the £60 light strikes, but for all the 1p and 4p stuff have you ever thought it might be another marketing plot by mr T to get us all going to the store to search for stuff that they wan't rid of (old stock) and we end up doing a bit of shopping when we are in there? Don't all start giving me pelters just a thought

There are dozens and dozens of lurkers here! Tesco staff who want the glitches for themselves (including management). Tesco top brass who want to keep an eye on what goes on! The worst though IMO and by far the largest percentage are the selfish sections of society who don't have MSE accounts, read and rush out and buy stuff without so much as a thank you.

As for the second part of your post, at last someone is using their head!! Do you actually think Tesco got to be the UK's number one retailer by 'accidentally' selling hundreds and hundreds of items at 1p or 4p????

Anyone remember the 1p energy saving light bulbs at tesco? Turns out the EU legislation was due to change and Mr T would have been left with millions of these things and they contain mercury so cost heaps of money to dispose of. We SAVED tesco a fortune by being their garbage disposal people.
  • Good evening all . . . .its been a while and you guys have been busy, not even going to attempt to read all pages!

Bit of an odd post, given that that is how you have come across by you post. I hasten to add that this is only my own oppinion.

Any how, welcome onboard and I hope that, once you are better aquainted with this forum, you will come to realise how supportive and lovely the people behind the posts really are.

I think the problem is that yes this site is free but people spend a lot of time looking for things and letting people know, and then some people go and take more than they need or whatever and don't even say thank you.
I know I posted the night before last saying my local had lots of a certain item in then all of a sudden nothing left and no-one on here had been.
If you want to buy the things fair enough but atleast have the decency to register and say thank you or there is nothing left to save people the trip!

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

i think that giving them to charity is very commendable of you...

i speak for myself here, but im guessing others feel the same too - Its not the fact that 'others' get the bargains, i for one, will tell others whilst i am in the storeif i find a bargain... share all i say..

but - it is quite disheartening when you find something, sometimes after literally spending hours looking for it, only to see somone else with a trolley full... esecially as sometimes you only want just the one...

yes, i agree giving to charity is great.. but i believe charity begins at home..... everyone is struggling financially at the minute..... but if you were to read up about it, charity shops are booming.. i for one would have never considered shopping in a charity shop in the past, but i do now.

dont take offense to this quiestion, but why not just donate the money you would have spent in Tescos, to the charity shop directly, then the others that have worked hard for these finds can also reepthe rewards... win win situation then? xx
