Hi Mrs PG
Thanks for your PM. Hugs still stand. I hugged a colleague today, who is having love-life heartache (I firmly believe in the benefits of hugging).
Thinking about your car tax, it makes more sense to tax it for 12 months from August, as you have said that things are historically tough in December/January/February anyway, so the more annual bills you can move out of those months, the better.
Offer the predators £1 token payments for at least 6 months (or even 12 months), and if you have any extra put it aside - not only for March when this contract ends, but for next winters "slough of despond".
Raise your prices to the people who have just offered you work where you are there "go to" contractors. Don't be embarrassed, your work is obviously quality, and you go the extra mile.
Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Mrs PG, I really do think you need to get one of the post office cards just for your car tax. You can't use it for anything but to pay them with. Pretend it's another bill you have to pay each month but it's only £15-£20 or whatever. This way you'll never have to worry about whether you can tax the car
Also, do you use the same supermarket each time or different ones? I know we're meant to shop around but if you use the same one get one of those pre-paid cards and use that for your shopping. Load it up with pennies and then you know you have money on there and that's your monthly amount you get to spend or whatever.
I'm agreeing with Satchmo, £1 token payments for 6-12 months get yourselves back on your feet. Pay THEM off and sort the VAT, then you can crack on with the rest. There is no point paying any of them anything other than the obligatory £1 if you and your children are starving and at deaths door with stress. xxDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Oh and I have written to the Predators offering the £1 payments for February, I am hoping I can go back to normal in MArch but we will see.
Have half a well done for this :rotfl:
I know you are worrying but I have to agree with the others and say it would have been better to have given yourself a few more months grace otherwise you are continually scrabbling around.
My other plan would be to offer token payments for up to 6 months and if in that time you get priority bills up to date then you could put aside the extra money and when the creditors review you might have some enough to offer one or some a full and final :T (sneaky but good!!!)
Hope you have sorted the heating and got some money in.0 -
Hi MrsPG..just popping in and seeing your good news..great to gear about the small payment from the firms OH has been working for plus QuidCo. That's great.
But do heed the advice re small token payments. It's obv too stressful to go through this again if the firms are getting really slow with paying OH what he's owed.

oooh I remember recomending the cash-back on the pet insurance, it was such an outstanding amount. I'm so pleased it came through in your hour of need. There are guardian angels out there!:A:A
What I want to know is how does Eager Elephant turn up just when you need here??? is she a guardian angel :A do you think. Incidentally, I agree with her advice as always, see if you can buy yourself six months rather than one. Do you use a template letter to the creditors, if so, is there a link? I think I need to do the same.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

You so deserve it to be.
Hope you got the hot water sorted

The hot water miraculously decided to heat up again although there are some very strange noises coming from the tank and when the immersion kicks in the boiler sounds as though its going to blow up ! I think I need to get some Boiler cover and quick before I have another emergency like last year, only this time I have no Emergency Funds to pay for it . xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
