Quote: Granny I will be back later re the School situation !
It's not just Granny waiting for the update! :rotfl:
I trust you're well PG and enjoying the week-end. It's good that you got some work for this month and I'm hoping you get a lot for next month.
I suppose it may be quieter in December and I think Mr P deserves a well earned rest and some time with you all.
I hope the cat is doing ok and hasn't pulled his stitches out. He sounds a right tearaway. :rotfl:
Take care.June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15

5am on a Sunday morning and I'm posting !! Surely I cant be worrying about money again can I :rotfl: ?
So where to start ? Mr B .......for you I will start with the School !
School situation isnt sorted. The Head of Department didnt call back Thursday or Friday, and neither could we get in touch with the Headmaster. So that is one for Monday morning. In the meantime , and Im sorry if I have mentioned this already, it appears that the teacher is "Teaching" the class by video. Is it me ? She downloads Videos from the Internet of say Fractions, pops it on, makes them watch it, pauses it every now and then and then says " and if you dont fancy doing it like this, then you could try it like this", and pops on another video showing another method. If they say they dont understand, the class are told to go home, log on to their online Maths pages they have access to and to teach themselves in their spare time using the Booster Pages ! She could not do any of her classwork on Thursday, or Thursdays homework. Yesterday she appeared with the weekends homework and couldnt answer one question as she hasnt learnt how to do it. I am furious ! If there happen to be any teachers reading, I would be really interested to hear your thoughts. Maybe I am just old school, but this doesnt sound like the way to teach to me. DD1 is Set 3, there are 7 sets I believe, so she is relatively near the top. Shes pretty bright, certainly not daft but Maths is her least able subject . Having gone into year 10 to me its imperative that at this point she gets some good schooling. I am jumping up and down ! DD2 in the meantime came home to say that she is learning nothing in Science as she cannot understand a word her teacher says. DD2 loves Science, has always been top of the class yet now she learns nothing. I am not impressed at all.
What next ? ...... The Roof !!
The bloody NHBC didnt turn up ! We got a call one hour before the appointment to say that the lady who was coming felt ill and had gone home. I feel very sorry for her if she was genuinely ill, but I was livid. It was september they finally got involved. We turned down a days work to enable Mr Pinot to be here. Hes more Roof Minded than me and I dont know what Im talking about at all. My real irritation was that he had finished work at 2am in Newcastle, slept for four hours before driving home to ensure he was here on time. He is so exhausted and had we known they were going to cancel he could have slept properly. Thats what bugged me more than anything. Anyway they are going to call us and reschedule. We will lose another days work , and at the moment with the diary filling up no doubt it will be November before we can fit them in, no doubt our dates wont fit in with their diary ! In the meantime the weather is getting worse and the roof has been like this since April and no doubt the damage getting worse !
Next ? Space Cat ?
He is being remarkably good. I think he may have frightened himself when he pulled his stitches out the other day, or it could be because I whispered in his ear that I really really had no more money left in the pot to make him better if he pulled them out again. He has made no attempt to escape, although does cry at the back door, we have had no presents left around the house although all bedroom doors are permanently shut. He does take his collar off, but I think its a game as he comes to me and sits quietly while I put it back on again. We are back to the vets Monday for a check up
Girls were in Dance rehearsals all day yesterday. I spent all of Friday night sewing and attempting to make DD2s costumes bigger, no mean feat in itself, especially when you are not handy with a needle as I am not !But the costumes are done, just not very prettily ! Did I tell you that I bought tickets the other day, two shows one this evening, one next Saturday night. I bought a ticket for myself and Mr Pinot for tonight and one for me and for each of my parents next Saturday. £80 :eek::eek:. I wasnt that popular when I nearly keeld over in horror ! "What on earth am I going to watch I demanded ? " " Bl00dy Wicked ?" It just popped out ! DD1 looked as though the ground could swallow her up and DD2 couldnt contain her laughter . Needless to say I think I will be the talk of the dressing rooms....... but £16 a ticket ? Hello ?!!! It had better be good ! :rotfl:
What else ? Money !!
Well there isnt any really, plain and simple. All gone. What we had in has gone. £2000 on Septembers Mortgage. £1000 to taxman and put aside for VAT Man . £150 on food shop, £30 in my car, £30 in Mr Pinots Car ..............................the list goes on. Three non refundable hotel bills were paid for this week for business. Mr Pinot is away all next week. These will be refunded but not for six weeks ish, we need to pay them up front. Someone had better pay up again and quickly as I havent paid the Predators yet this month and they like their money early. But........ I withdrew the money sitting in Paypal from Ebay Sales £200. I had also used money to buy DD2 a coat from there so there was originally more. I listed three more items yesterday , one of which has bids of £40 already, so I am pleased with that. They are all 7 day listings. Quidco paid £40 so I have withdrawn that and also cashed the Cash For Clothes Cheques I have been accumulating in my purse so thats another £40. I have stashed all of this away in my "Magic Drawer" The Ebay money was supposed to have been for Garden Furniture but with Sumemr over and Xmas Looming something tells me it will be spent on Xmas presents instead.
I am going to try not to touch the money if I can and build up a stash of cash ! I wonder how long it will last !
After that mammoth update , hopefully it has cleared my head writing all of this down. I have probably totally fuzzled your heads though and bored you to tears ! :rotfl:Off to try and sleep now before the alarm goes off for more Rehearsals. 11am at the Theatre with all Costumes, Lunch and Dinner x 2 , Hair in neat bun x 2, no wispy bits and Garish Sparkly Make Up x 2! Why do I agree to these things ?! A Sunday morning lie in would have been preferable !!
Oh and BR, hello, where have you been hiding ?! Hope you are well. I will check on your diary now before I go back to bed x

I'm completely with you with regards to the video teaching. I'm sorry if any of you are teachers, but it sounds like this one particular teacher is opting out of their responsibilities. In my book, this is not acceptable teaching practice.

I'm already telling people I'm having a drastically pared down Christmas this year, do not buy me presents as I'll not be buying presentsI'm going to make as many as I can for as little as I can cakes, sweets, jams and the like.
You're already doing everything you can to bring in the money, I don't really know what to suggest. Quidco is good, but you do have to buy things in the first place to get the cashback, bit of a flaw there I think

I would be really annoyed with the building peeps. Only an hours notice!!!! Not good enough.
As for the teaching I'm really not surprised, it certainly makes the good ones stand out.
Hope the cat behaves.

Wow that really sounds like bad teaching to me. I was great at maths in school but am pretty sure I would have struggled being taught that way. Hope you get it sorted soon as it is one of the most important subjects x
Sorry to hear you are finding things so financially difficult at the moment. Just goes to show that you probably do need to redo your soa as you clearly can't afford to make the payments you have been. How about keeping a spending diary for a while to see if money is going where it shouldn't. I know its difficult when you have an irregular income coming in and emergencies such as trips to the vet to find money for.
Hope space cat is ok xTargets

Sorry for making a suggestion on Pinot's thread and not yours Piq but.....
We used to buy for everyone, then a few years ago it was just children (but I also got my brother and s-i-l a gift as they don't have children) and now things are really tight we did Pots of Gold or Silver and did them for everyone - everyone was so pleased you thought we had given them the world. We included a pot of gold scratch card in each (Lottery) and quite a few people won!!
Basically you find a small pot/jar and fill with gold things - usually sweets with gold wrappers (I did silver as my sister perfers white choc), add a scratch card, wrap up with cellophane (florists will sell it cheap) and tie with gold ribbon.
Others have used them as name places for Xmas dinner etc - the ideas are endless.
Here is a link to the thread where I got the idea from https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1283835
It worked out so cheap expecially if you have small jars or glasses already that you can use to hold your gold in.
I will see if I have any pictures of mine somewhere0
