i know people that work in the private sector that haven't had a pay rise for three years. i don't see why benefit claimants shouldn't share some of the pain.

The problem is that in times of low inflation, and wage rises, it goes the other way.
To cap benefit rises to the lower of inflation, or wage rises leads to them falling behind quite fast.

    So did I surprisingly.

I see far too many drive up, park on double yellow lines and put up the blue badge, then out come two youngsters more than capable of walking.

Do I lend my wife my blue badge? Yes of course I do - who doesn't?
But she doesn't use it on the public highway, only in supermarkets, hospitals etc.

Strange town you must live in then.... Do people with mobility issues not go shopping or to the hospital?

"worst types of benefit fraud"? What are the best kinds? :rotfl:

    ..

Obviously no benefit fraud is good but some (like earning a few pounds while claiming JSA) is more understandable than fraud on an industrial scale.

Apart from bar staff they would probably be charging at least £40 per hour, bar staff, maybe £7 per hour.

You've switched from talking about what someone earns to talking about what they charge; the two things aren't the same.

And what about the 49% increases paid to the boards of the top 100 companies?

Now that is a good point. Doesn't mean that you should do the same though does it?

Unfortunately there are too many rotten people whatever they earn. The very well off having such pay rises in the present economic climate is obscene. Agreed. I can not see that all of us joining in is going to help society though. Better to put those directors of companies to shame and for the government to regulate to prevent such injustice. The government does not have money but it can ensure fairness for all. That, ultimately, is its mandate.

    .

Then you deserve to have the blue badge taken away from both of you and leave it for the genuine people who use it as it is supposed to be used.

Sorry I think you haven't actually read what I said.

My first point was agreeing that something needs to be done about the blatant misuse of a blue badge by, in this instance, two young lads leaving the car on double yellow lines and then both running off down the High Street.

My second point was that whilst most users that agree that this is wrong, do abuse their blue badge also. My wife does when she goes to the supermarket or hospital without me.

Both the same thing. Self employed Scaffolders & Mechanics earn approx £40 an hour.

Cash in hand bar staff take home about £7 an hour.

How do I know? The mechanic looks after my car and charges me that rate in cash plus the cost of any parts.

letting your wife use your badge is fraud it is issued to you not your wife.
