• Have a look at this: whilst there are some statements where the voucher CODE is mentioned most of the text here places the emphasis on the VOUCHER it has been the understanding that you need to be in possession of the voucher and the code not just the code. Those people who have sent pictures were unaware that it is the code alone and not the voucher and the code which can be redeemed.

Ukash is designed to enable you to use your banknotes and coins to pay or send money on the internet. You don't need a bank account or credit card to use Ukash. You simply need to have some cash!

Why would I need that?
Our customers tell us that they use Ukash for many different reasons. Some don't like using their bank or credit cards online. Others may not have access to a bank account. Still more like the control that Ukash gives them, as you can only spend up to the value of your Ukash voucher.
Whatever your reason, you can get and use your Ukash without providing us with any financial information. So you stay private when you are using your money online. Read on for more information on how it works.
How does it work?
Ukash is very simple.
Step 1: Get a Ukash voucher

To enable you to use your cash online, you need a Ukash voucher. Each voucher is worth the amount of money you use to get it - there are no extra fees. So, if you want Ukash voucher for £50 you simply visit your nearest store and over £50 and receive a Ukash voucher worth that amount. Simple!
Step 2: Decide where to use it

A Ukash voucher can be used in many different ways. The voucher value can be spent online to buy goods and services on the thousands of websites where Ukash is accepted. Or it can be used to load value into your favourite e-wallet or prepaid card, including our own UKASH NEC card, to enable you to spend money wherever MasterCard® is accepted.
And you can even send the Ukash voucher value to friends and family overseas.

All the talk is of the voucher and not the code. In my opinion Ukash need to differentiate in their nomenclature between the voucher (physical reciept) and the voucher (voucher code) which seem to be interchangeable. The two are not synonymous and this has been the source of some confusion. If it was readily clear people would be less likley to send a photo of the code. This is an error in their document authoring which leaves things unclear.

Ok I understand the point that your making, although the same could be said for victims of fraud through Pay Pal or Western Union of which there are many. However I don't wish the to debate legal intricacies of financial payment systems even though I am well versed on these as I take payments online which is why I have an interest in this.

My point is this, why has the victim gone out and purchased the Ukash voucher when they were specifically told they could pay cash at the door and delivery would be free, if somebody could enlighten me on this then I would be most grateful.

We have today realised we have been scammed by Sarah Harper (tel. no. 07747516575) through her advert on Gumtree which was placed about 19 days ago for a Concept2 Rower. We thought it was bargain not to be missed. What fools. Having never used paypoint or Ukash before or even heard of them, we stupidly went along with the request for the photo as proof we had paid. Police have been informed and I have given them the IP address that I found on the website WhoCallsMe. Have also emailed paypoint and Gumtree but not heard anything back yet. Have also filled in the form for reporting Spam crime on the Trading Standards website. I pray nobody else falls for this scam. It's very sad and assume there is sod all we can do about getting any money back.
• I have just been a victim of this. I feel so stupid - I though I was savy but obv. not!

I think it boils down to ukash is to easy to use for evil!
I even told the shop assistants were I bought it what I was using it for and they never pointed out the tiny warning. :(
• that includes telling they about gumtree, the courier, emailing the voucher etc etc.
• Checked email address when a dodgy looking parcelforce email arrived
Parcelforce Worldwide <Royal-Mail-Group@consultant.com>;

I dont think parcelforce deliver 300Kg lathes ha ha ha!

Don't know if it's been long since you've emailed, I've been out so couldn't follow up on my text message. Can't promise anything but visiting my mum shortly, wouldn't mind making a drop off :) . If you'll send me your postcode I can check out on my satnav the distance to yours.

Reasonable price and accurate description, it's worth the money, no bad surprises. I won't go any lower.

Can be reached on 07747192044 low signal strength area :( but check emails regularly.
Ta,
Sarah.
P.S. Will take cash only.

Vax2002, is this the best that you have to do with your time? Why don't you go off and find a forum somewhere where your pointless comments are appreciated, something like www. Twatsrus.com

You dont have to consider yourself anything, The bloke who is spending your money did that part for you.

The problem with these comments is it puts others off speaking out.
• Can't hurt to point out the lack of adequate traonong, info and warning at the ukash vendors end: customer.relations@co-operative.coop even a manager has not been informed re the possible issues with sending pictures to parcel force.

I wonder if we can do something...She´s got a mobile number and her message was sent from an Iphone,so I thought she´s paying monthly for a phone service and if it is so, they can trace her...
You know that being a southamerican opens your eyes,as people always try to scam you in my country, the sad thing is that when they do it here,as people trust more than we do.

It seemed pretty odd that she could send a sms with her email nora75palmer@gmail.com and not call me and then when I replied she gave lame excuses that her phone might not work as the signal was low. Then she said "im going to visit my mom", then, "I was called to the countryside"...

I suggest we post gumtree ads with the same price of her products stating BEWARE with this seller, etc. Or ask Gumtree to do something, like sending emails to all its members or publishing something in the website that would make all members see the ADvice" before they get stolen.

It is a very sad way to steal money from people, and you´re not stupid, some people are just evil.

Unfortunately I've just got called into the office (i get sent countrywide with less than 24hrs notice) so very busy till next week. Back at work we have some shipments for large items with parcelforce all week long. Just thought it would save you time and hassle if I'll send it along with them free of charge :) company benefits :) .

I asked around and it seems you can pay cash upon delivery/inspection. It's quite simple since they're able to wait for you to check it out, if not as described they can just void the shipment with no extra charge.

If that's alright with you I'll need a name, address, contact number and also date&time suitable for the delivery.
Working long hours so If you want to pop in and pick it up you'll have to wait till next week or so when hopefully I'll get my head around :)
Let me know either way.
Nora.

This is not a woman! This is a gang of crooks that are not in this country, probably Asia or North Africa somewhere such as Nigeria.

It is not a pay monthly account it is a free sim card that is changed regularly and completely untracable.

With such incredible nievity it is not surprising that people are getting conned.

You cant speak to them on the phone!
You cannot even reply to the text messages!
You cannot get any questions answered!
The email from "ParcelForce" is not from Royal Mail or Parcel Force, just look at the email address, really, really basic stuff!
They dont check to see if you have cash the night they are supposedly popping by!
You part with your cash before seeing the goods and never even have a spoken conversation with the person!
They wont give you their address!

Honestly, the list is endless and getting conned by this is simply a case of greed or more politely put, "If it looks too good to be true it probably is".

I know this is true because i am ashamed to say that I wanted to buy an item because the price was very low, in other words I was being greedy and I am lucky I didnt have to pay for that greed because I am not completely stupid.

Sorry to sound so harsh but it is the only way to learn, you have to see it the way it is. To avoid being conned you have to admit your greedy side, avoid it and if you really cant help yourself look for some of the incredible number of very obvious signs.

We now live in a blame culture and one of the problems with this is that many find it far easier to blame this on it being really clever rather than taking a good look at themselves. The advantage of the latter is you get to avoid being conned again. Blaming it on UKCash, or Parcel Force or some fictional Woman is all well and good but you will go on to make the same mistake again.

Please everyone, lets use this thread to educate ourselves on what signs to see and how to avoid this in the future and help others to avoid it.

• I think they are from the uk since they use the phrase 'pop round' and this is British English. Unlikely that they would use colloquialisms if they were not English.
