Reinstalling Windows Vista

Hello

I have a Toshiba Satelite L350-170 laptop, nearly 3 years old. It's been playing up blue screen twice in a week, closing itself down etc....I have been advised to reinsall vista, I have the recovery discs, 2 that I made when I got the laptop..... This is something I have never done before, is there any instructions i can print out before I start this, so I hopefully know what I am doing! I am making sure anything of importance is saved to memory stick, would like to save my bookmarks in firefox too if possible, any help would be great. Thanks.

its not rocket science just follow the instructions

put disc in go to bios settings the look for boot order put your cd as first

then exit +save then it will ask you to boot from disc once it restarts select yes

a blue screen will come up asking if you wish to repair or install fresh
press corroesponding letter to install fresh

it will then ask you about wich hdd you want to install it on (if you have more than one )
Select c: then it will confirm with you that doing this will wipe everything press enter

it will go through it stuff then load up windows it will ask you to change time and date etc
then password it will go through some more stuff when it restarts your pc take disc out then windows vista load ups and voila

turn pc on you get black or blue screen and it will say press either delete or presss f10 or f12

if it goes to fast try again and press pause on your keyboard it stops so you can see what you need then press break press corresponding button

You might not even need to change anything in the BIOS. Many PCs will attempt to Boot from the CD/DVD drive first before attempting to boot from the HDD. I would just try putting in the CD and restarting it.

basic reinstall from recovery disks - anything from 30 mins to 1+ hrs - updates could take a couple of days depending which service pack is already included in your recovery image/disks. e.g. if your recovery image has no service packs on, you may be better off downloading the stand-alone service pack and installing it from disk.

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16468 SP2 stand-alone

both of these will need to be burned to a cd/dvd and run. You have to install SP1 before SP2. Then, once up to SP2, there'll just be the updates post-SP2 to do via windows update :)
