I have a CO monitor too, seemed like a good idea, it has never gone off but I test it regularly. I did take it on holiday with us, after hearing about those poor children who died of CO poisoning on holiday in Greece (I think).

Fruity phone still in its rice till tomorrow. If I'd not got one when I did (prior to LBM) I probably wouldn't have it now, though I do enjoy it and use it a lot.

My justification at the time was that it would be a music player, phone, kindle-ish, sat nav, email and internet on the move all in one gadget, which it has been really, i've definitely made good use of it for all those and have my OU text books on it for reading on the days i grt the train etc. Nearly out of contract, planning to go to sim only if it survives it's swim. Not sure what I'll do if not, reading my previous justification I doubt I'll last long without one :o

Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage :o) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

  • SOT you can do that with most Android phones... so go cheaper?

I love mine and I got it free on a £14 a month contract with unlimited internet, free calls to T-Mobile, 300 minutes and 300 texts.... 6 months later I got DH the same contract only £10 a month!!!

Most my phone calls are to DH, DS and my 2 closest friends... and we are all on T-Mobile!

I only use my internet to come on here and for my emails!!!

I really am not a gadget girl... I still read BOOKS!

I am still hoping it will live to fight another day, but yes JG I will try hard to consider the android options if it doesn't. That would be the sensible option, I hadn't realised they had got so much cheaper as I try not to look until I definitely need something new. I am not great at self restraint :D

Sorry Rising, we are very unkind to wave gadgety temptation in front of you :D

  • What do you have right now

Far too embarrasing to say ...... let's say I moved back up here in 2005 and I had it then!
    how much are you paying?

Well, let's see ..... errrr, I stuck £40 in it before Christmas 2010 and just stuck a bit more in last week :o

    Contract! Contract! What's that?

Let's see, it does "allegedly" take pics and videos (except it's full & I can't get the beeping memory card out) - it does "allegedly" have internet access (but it NEVER works) errr

I'm now looking for deals

OMG I don't need a new phone - it holds it's charge for AT LEAST 3 hours - plenty of time to get anywhere surely!

No, but I think you should get one... just make a list and think about it a few days... on Friday make a decision!

That way you've made an informed decision...!

I would say unless you have an in-car charger a 3 hour battery life if not safe! Mine lasts 24 hours and I access the internet quite a bit, but always have an in-car charger for emergencies.

Phone your current provider and see what deals they do... but again don't get anything right now!

You spend £20 a month so you could potentially save money getting a 12-18 month contract.

This is MSE and we are out to save money you know....

Errrrrr sorry JG .... it's PAYG - I've put £50 (total) in it since the beginning of Dec 2010:rotfl:

I do really need to do something about it tho' - friends are getting really p'd off as I never text them back .... it's got so bad I don't even bother charging it unless I'm going to DMs (only really long journey I do) but it's not a good idea as I do travel on rural roads a lot.

I will have a hunt around over the next couple of weeks and see what's out there:)

  • That's cheap...

Ok new plan... £9.97 unlocked phone from MrT you get good battery, text and calls and keep your current sim. Pay using cc vouchers and you're better off then you are now :)
