What an evening. Since moving to my Mums I have realised I am now nearly out of my pill.
So I went down the Doctors local to here (was my doctors up until I was 18 and moved 5 miles away) and went to register.
I took my baby book (how organised) with my NHS number on the front. I filled in the forms. The lady (loosely lady I would say :S ) stated it was not the correct NHS number and they have been revised do I would need to call my old doctors to see if they could provide it. But I was not allowed to go through to the quick clinic this evening with out my NHS number as perscriptions can not be written with out this number. I asked how else I would have known the number had changed and she said,' you wouldn't know, the NHS revised the formats of the numbers and they were updated to your doctors records. Unless you asked you would not know this'. I looked at her a little dismayed. Typical. So next clinic is 2 weeks. Next appointment available is 1st February. Excellent. So I asked her to look for me on the computer as I was with the surgery for 20 years. 'No I can confirm we have no record of you at all so you will need that NHS number to progress you through your request', in a monotone tone. My response.' Computer says 'no' then!' Welcome to the United Kingdom .......why is nothing simple. 30 minutes wasted for no reason, had to get someone to look after my son and all of that when I couldn't get any further with out my number.
RANT OVER!

Hello, just thought I should own up to lurking around! As you can see from my siggie, I'm not quite there yet, but I will be soon enough (very much at that impatient bit, like when you're almost finished your journey home and the last little bit is taking forever 'cos you just want to be sitting at home with your feet up and a cuppa!). And you all seem to be asking the same questions that are already buzzing around in my head.
I've started from the beginning and from the end of the thread so I'm all in a confuzzle - nothing new there then! Though I do recognise some old faces. Well done of reaching your DFDs!
Samtoby, I'm not sure whther your experience was more to do with hideous NHS IT systems, which is a major blight in this day and age, or just medical secretaries being medical sectretaries (uhm, no offence to any medical secretaries reading out there. And I sure hope my mum isn't reading this as that's her job!)
Eek LBD, the MrDiz situation is a delicate one to handle! I'm visualising my friend's husband... I'm sure she has a "does it fit in the garage(s)" rule or a "one in one out rule" - but I'm not sure either of them actually have any bearing on how much he actually spends on the newest toy!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Dizzy just tell him that the money is coming, your commision is 50% and if he spends his half on a car you'll sledge hammer 2 cars! Haha! But seriously, I would not want to not tell him, but you deserve a fair amount for your work. And put you foot down ref. The cars. Niccats idea of setting a car limit... I do that with DH books, and DS toys and it works well.
Yes Eliza is fitting in well, and life is already settling into a new routine... she fits in like she was supposed to be here.
Sam that's terrible... I would have told her to find the number herself and if she couldn't then is like to speak to someone can can do their job. I'm terrible really! But thanks for the heads up, I'm moving in 6 months.
Niccat welcome, you may not be debt free, but if you have questions please feel free to ask them.
I've not been very good... last night DH parents visited, by the time they left it was 6pm and DS had homework and I'd promised he could bath Eliza and have a cuddle... so we had takeaway to make sure we could have family time. Now my 'accounts' are in the red (ie. Virtual accounts on my spreadsheet) and I have no money left!
DH and I are determined to start cooking again... so tonight is sausage and mash (easy to do...) and tomorrow cottage pie (we are going to make it at lunchtime incase we have evening visitors). We are determined!
Just need to find the overspend (and after hospital parking costs too...) this is how babies get you into debt, so I must control it now (as DS was when my debt spiral started)
So ideas on free cash welcome here

Thanks, this cheered me up. I had a rotten nights sleep, tossing and turning the whole night. It's ridiculous but I'm far more worried about this than I ever was worried about debts.
I'm not telling him (at least not for a while). I know thats a bit wrong, and perhaps in some people views a lot wrong but I know what will happen. He had an endowment policy mature last summer and withing a week we had a new car. £9000 down the swanny... and we didn't even need a car
He does a really physical job and due to an accident can't work as much as he used to, so the reason we're saving like mad is to buy a BTL property, which we hope will generate some income to take the pressure off him. So as it's for this reason, I feel that it's kind of ok not to tell him until it's safely tucked up into a savings account where it can't be touched for a year or so. Once it's there I'll tell him.
Sam, sounds like you've had a right time of it at the surgery. I had no idea NHS numbers had changed, surely it's like your NI number isn't it? Hope you manage to get something sorted.
niccatw, hello! Well done on reducing your debt so much to date, and good luck on the final hurdle, keep us updated
Have a good Tuesday everyone, keep warm.I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
niccatw - I was there a year ago or so and it was nice lurking around what situation I was heading for. Well done on what you have done so far; final push!
JulieGeorgiana - I love it posting at such an early time! I remember I used to watch Emergency Room on Discovery Health while feeding my son at those early hours. How was the sausage and mash?!
Littlebitdizzy - Hope your day is going ok, no sleep is not good.
Back to work its only my first break; but the days fly here.x
