JG, Eliza is a beautiful baby for sure. Sending very best wishes for lots of love and laughter in the coming years to you, your lovely DH, your amazingly clever and well educated DS and your stunning gorgeous girl.
And I hope you manage to get some kip! Love to you all xxI myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Oh pot on it!!!! JG, I've just realised you could have referred me for the FD account. Is it too late now, now idea how to do a referral....I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0

Dizzy, the referal would only work if you put 2 DD over and £1500 in the current account each month. Which I dont think you did... so no worries
Thanks for the thought x

Dizzy glad you had a productive day at work;)
QueenB mmmmm don't understand the OD thing at all - very strange. If it's huge & not used then I would have thought the same as Sam that reducing / closing it would have a positive affect rather than a negative one.
Sam couldn't agree more about the spreadsheets ....
Having never budgeted properly in my adult life, I'm feeling so much more positive now I've got my wee budgeting pots set up and can see them building up each month.
January is normally a nightmare month for me as car service, breakdown cover & tax are all due  but with some clever timing of paying for things on the cc (eg after cut off date) and putting a bit extra away the last couple of months.... for the first time ever, I'll have money to cover them:) - this should make a huge difference as I usually end up having to stick them all on the cc and then spend the next 3 months playing catch up! (which puts me in the red right at the start of the year).
Hoping things should start to get easier as the year moves on and the pot payments can reduce to "normal" levels as having to pay extra to most of them atm to get enough into them for when things fall due.

Hello Buffy, lovely to have you join us
Rising, well done on the budegting, that's a brilliant achievement. Hopefully it's just the beginning of a successful financial year for you! It's great to get the debts gone, but then it's another whole hurdle in itself trying to 'get ahead' isn't it?
QueenB, I can only think that the bank clerk isn't a member of the MSE Boards, and therefore doesn't have a clue what he's talking about!!! The only thing that would show on your credit file is the amount of overdraft or credit available to you, and the amount you are using of that available credit. It doesn't show if the overdfaft limit is higher / lower than it used to be - I reduced my OD limiit on one account recently and did my credit files earlier in the week, it just show £400 available / balance £0 (goes off to polish halo)
I think sometimes between us all we are far more aware and savvy about regulations, credit scores, available interest rates and deals etc.
JG, glad you got some sleep. Eliza seems to be sleeping well already, long may it last! What does DS think to his new Baby Sister? Glad you're feeling so much better now too, don't forget to take care of yourself too!
Anyhow - hooray, it's Sunday. Does anyone have anything nice planned today?I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Morning everyone! Right I spent yesterday doing my spreadsheets and completing and sending off my tax return (yuk), but at least it's done and there is money there to pay for it. I keep all my business affairs completely separate from my personal ones with a completely different bank. I was just wondering tho as someone mentioned that they bank with Barclays and they have little pots to divide their money further, but having banked with Barclays for some 28 years and have had online banking since its infancy, could you please tell me how it's done. I mean, do you have to open lots of little accounts, or just make new pots?
Thank you for any advice you can give me on this as I think this would help me enormously with my new budgetting head. Happy Sunday. It's gonna be a NSD for me as am going to do washing and declutter my kitchen cupboards - wish me luck :lipsrsealWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:
