  • Hello there. Good to hear your news. I've not felt the need to check in as much as I used to when I required motivation. Taken my eye off the ball a bit, but the savings are still going up slowly. Just able to enjoy things a little bit more without the guilt! (At last!)

New romance going well too - so not as much time to browse the site.

    How's everyone else getting on?

  • Glad to hear that the relationship is going well, and at least the savings are going up, thats what counts... I hope things keep going well :)

Oh, I forgot DD took her first step last week, and she's not yet 9 months :)

I'm very proud of her, she's got such a cheeky personality :)

backinbusiness - good news about the relationship and savings.

JulieGeorgiana - you have been busy and first steps time as well, time to move the low lying ornaments again.

We have just ordered a set of double glazed French doors to replace our old single glazed patio door. This will improve our thermal efficiency and remove a cold spot and a source of damp and mould from the house. The best thing though is that we have saved :) up for it.

  • Mort, isn't it a great feeling to buy something large and know you dont owe anyone?

I feel like that with the new garage roof :)

Ps. DD doesn't touch my things, she's really good. I just tell her no, and why, and she just leaves it alone :)

It certainly is, it's a bit strange as well.

Well they are in and looking mighty fine. The best thing is that this is the first major house improvement we have done without finance :j

    Hi Mort

Congrats on it being a year debt free !

Hi anyone else who may find their way on to this thread!

Earlier today I was totting up my savings, and comparing them to this time last year & they are going up slowly, though not as fast as I would like really.

This is still good though as I had a vague concern, given I have been taking my eye off the ball rather a lot lately, that I might have been using savings to top up spends at a faster rate than I was topping up my saving, if that makes sense, but, touch wood, that is not quite the case.

Hope all are well and happy!

Congratulations Mort ... both on 1 year DF and the house improvements with no finance :j:j:j

Sorry I've been quiet recently but unfortunately carrying a bit of an OD again following having to change the car to an automatic and some emergency house repairs (both in the same month & not enough in the pots to cover everything ..... well the car wasn't due to be replaced until 2015!).

Technically still DF (as still have a little bit left in the ISA that I really do want to keep for an emergency)..... but concentrating on trying to clear the OD the hard way just now!:)

The car passed it's MOT with flying colours and without any advisories. Much better than last years test. The service was an expensive one but was still within budget.

On the personal front I have been going to WeightWatchers for a few weeks now following a health check at the doctors which ended with a referral. So far the weight has been coming off nicely - it's been several weeks since our last take away.

    Hope all are well.
