Oh no BIB what an awful thing to have happened.

Touch wood I've been lucky with my cars thus far, but I can't help but think my luck will run out one of these days, these people are SOOOOOOO selfish!

And all may not yet be lost re:window sticker.

Under MSE stuff at the top of the page it looks like you can still get them for the cost of a SAE envelope.

I've not got one, this has promoted me to send off for one.

Ohhhhh I didn't know that .... will be getting one too!

In fact, I will post it tomorrow - along with the *stinking* letter I've written to E*gg (see below)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • *Rising Rant Alert*

Wrote & asked E*gg to close my account (forgot my online log-in & despite 4 attempts at "re-establishing security" - I've not been able to get access to my account for over a year) and asked them to send a cheque.

A few weeks later, I got a letter saying that they couldn't send cheques (errrr are they not a bank!) and I needed to provide details for a BACS transfer - which I did.

Then got a letter on Friday saying that as they don't have my "signature on file" I need to provide a copy of my driving license or passport.

F(swear word)S ..... why didn't they ask for that at the same time as asking for the BACS details:mad:

It has now been over 2 months since I asked for MY money to be returned to me & I've still not got it

I don't know if it's me but they have been the most difficult financial institution I have ever had the misfortune to deal with ....

    *Rising Rant Over*:o

Gosh .... feel better now - if you think that's bad - you should read the letter:rotfl:

    Glad you feel better Rising

It does beggar belief that a bank can't send a cheque, or at least get all the requirements in their first letter to you.

My home insurance is due for renewal early next month and despite being as careful as i could ticking all the don't call me options last year I have had 7 calls, 1 text and 3 emails so far, from 3 different companies

My current insurer has given me their renewal quote when I answered their third call on Thursday, and i told them i needed at least a week to do my own quotes as per MSE guide but they have still rung, emailed and texted since then!

I'll give them a chance to beat my best quote but to be honest they have irritated me and I actually hope they can't beat it.

  • Hi All,

I've been registered on this site since 2010 but never posted on the forums.

I was in 27k of debt up until January this year when I was given the opportunity to take redundancy from my employer after 21 years.

Although its not pleasant using redundancy money to clear debt I decided to pay off all my debts and thankfully am now debt free for the first time in at least 12 or more years. I cannot begin to tell you what a difference being without the burden of debt has made to my life.

Despite never posting I read the posts on the forums quite often and I am determined never to get into the mess I got into again. I calculated that with credit cards and consolidation loans etc over the last 12 years I must have paid out roughly 55k plus to try to clear debt if not more and thats before I used my redundancy money.

I realise that its my own fault and take full responsibility for my own actions but I will say that it is easy to spend money that is not your own and it is all too easy sometimes for people to judge others.

I wish everyone the best of luck in both trying to clear debt and also congratulations to those that like myself have by one method or another become debt free. Long may these forums continue with the excellent advice of both members and forum staff.

BiB - aww thats terrible, glad your kids got some easter eggs though. The theif should be made to pay you back himself - this kind of thing makes my blood boil . What give them the right and what enters their mind to make them just go to someone elses house / drive and take their car - mindless idiots.

Rising - I do love your rants!

SOT - hope you get a decent renewal. If your current company hadnt wasted money on chasing you, they could prob bet your quotes by a good bit!

seaniesson - congratulations on becoming DF!! :j best feeling in the world! Doesnt matter how you got there, its not nice using any hard earned money to pay it off, but now any money that comes you way is all yours!! have you got another job lined up?

have had fun today with DD, we were using face paints (£1 in easter sale at asda!!) and she had painted my face with lovely bright pink and white. Trouble is I cant get the pink off my eyes! :rotfl: Might need to go to work like this!

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it feels great knowing that finally my salary is my own. I was extremely lucky (given the current climate) to be offered another job. I know the job market is very difficult at the moment.

Congratulations on your own recent debt free success as well :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hi! Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter! Been away seeing family for the bank holiday weekend and looks like there is lots to catch up on on this thread :) will go back through later.

We have a viewing of our flat later on this week so my aim for today is to have a real good de-clutter, clean and tidy round. Really want somebody to buy it so we can finally move closer to my family!

Trying to live a good life on little money :T
