Raising you don't sound bitter... it's just the reality of this country. I believe it should be much fairer! Look at those loosing Child Benefits... if 1 person is a higher earner (£45k) you loose the benefit, two lower earners and you don't (£80k)!! Then there is Child Tax Credits...!
SOT my 2 cats cost me 26p a day while my 2 Rabbits cost me 62p a day!!!!
Anyone want some Rabbits???We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
So her food works out as 35p per day or £10 per month plus gravy bones
I worked Ben out at about £1 / day so that's not bad going! (obviously he was a lot bigger!):D
I've tried to get the cats to eat cheaper stuff and it usually ends up with one tin / pouch being tried & the rest of the pack (really hard to get individual ones to try which is incredibly frustrating) going to the cat shelter.
I've now given up as I was wasting more money doing this than spending a little extra on the stuff they will eat;)JulieGeorgiana wrote: »SOT my 2 cats cost me 26p a day while my 2 Rabbits cost me 62p a day!!!!

Ohhhhh my, I had no idea rabbits would cost more than the cats:eek: - is that the cost of veg?
Just wondering if you've a farm shop / market nearby where you could go and buy big sacks of stuff as that works out a lot cheaper.
PS DM has "a" rabbit in her garden (I did try telling her there is never just one rabbit anywhere) who has just had the most gorgeous litter of 3 babies- not sure it'll do her veg plot much good tho!

Thanks everyone for the best wishes, going to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy now!! :T
Rising / SOT: I had no idea it cost this much. Isn't "free" education not open to you Rising being in Bonnie Scotland? I went to Uni from School and finished my honors degree and it didn't cost me a penny. (I worked all the years I was at uni, but the fees didn't cost me!)
SOT: about the dog food... could you buy some cheap tins of dog food and mix some in with the odd meal? I used to do attend dog training classes and just loved them, the trainer was none short of a genius! She used to say that dogs would eat anything and it was their way of "controlling" us, by tugging at our heart strings when they didnt eat!! She said that dogs could last up to 10 days, I never had to try this out as my pooch would eat dust!
JG: child benefit - a common discussion in my office, I just can't get my head around what the Govt are thinking with this! that and the Child Tax credit, its getting to the point that they squeezing those on middle incomes so much that they will just pop and possibly give up work!
Had a lovely mothers day, DD made me a card and I had breakfast in bed - bliss!

When I bought Jam3s W3llbeloved she held out not eating for five whole days and I just couldn't bear it any longer than that, and I've tried quite a few others but have wasted so much I've given in. I know she has me wrapped round her little paw any way :rotfl:
Great news re: insulation.
SOT xDebt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

Hello folks - sorry I've not posted for a while, but I have been keeping up to date with you all everyday - you lot really do keep me going!
JG - I am loving the Avatar photo of Eliza - she looks gorgeous and the little Red dress is so cute!
LianneH - Hope the pregnancy is going well now?
I think I just need to let off a bit of steam at the mo, so here goes....
I'm really struggling this month! I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders! It all started with a little op to remove a lump from my jaw...
The operation was alot more complex than first thought and even 2 weeks on, I am still not over it! I still have swelling, still cant eat properly and am generally run down with it!
I am now gradually getting myself back into work, but I am just exhausted and generally in pain!
On the up side of being stuck in the house I have bearly spent any money this month! Which is a good thing.... but I just have this fear that it is just not enough!!!!
My main aim for 2012 is to get a deposit together, so been saving like a crazy squirell, but I just cannot get it out of my head that what ever I do it isn't enough!
Now I was gonna post this on the 12k in 2012 thread, but I thought you guys would "get" how I am feeling! It does remind me of when I was in debt and the whole "there's no light at the end of the tunnel" thought was running through my head!
I am off to read over some debt free diaries I think, to try and stop myself feeling sorry for myself and basically for being a silly moo!
There are so many people in some really tight situations! I really need to be more grateful for what I have got and how far I have come since my black hole of debt days!
Sorry for wittering on - I have a tendancy to do that whilst sat with a keyboard and a cuppa!
Hope everyone else is having a good month?0 -

*sigh* - only if I go full time, which I can't afford to do being the sole wage earner .....
Congrats on the insulationthey came around me a couple of months ago and I said to the guy before he came in "did it cost anything" to be told a resounding "no".
rant warning Nearly an hour later  after him checking the insulation depth in the loft (apparently the houses no longer meet min standards), going through the paperwork, we came to the "what benefits do you get" question ...... errrr "none" and I was then told that I'd have to pay for it!
Sorry, but surely single people / couples who work & many of whom have very little disposable income after all the bills are paid have just as much right to live in a warm house / benefit from savings on our heating bills  - sorry but the whole "system" (whether education or things like this) is just beeping ridiculous.rant over:o (again!)I'm really struggling this month!
