Thats the point...they did'nt look at the screen...they would'nt tell me the balance....gave different,( and In my opinion) misleading excuses.
Wouldn't or couldn't? Bit of a backtrack from your claim they were lying.

What (in your opinion) were the (obviously blatant) lies they spouted when you asked for a balance?

I went to withdraw mine yesterday and the service I received was very good. Yes there was a problem but the staff in branch were very apologetic allowed me to withdraw capital and took my bank account details for them to pay interest into my hsbc account.
Yup - I had pretty much the same experience when I went in a few weeks ago to set things up for getting the funds moved to my HSBC account. Did explain that I was moving the cash out as their back-office seemed incapable of running pi$$-ups in breweries - a bit sad as their branch staff are at least as good as anywhere else but probably get more of a kicking than they deserve.

    1. Asked for balance 4 days before end of term....reply..." it's not anything like it will be at end of term so leave it till next week"

I've had many predictions from banks / b socs over the years to allow decisions on rollover options; this shouldn'nt be a problem.

    2. On Nov 1st ( maturity date) asked again..lady said " cant tell you , it does'nt come up till midnight!

subsequent problems highlighted here confirm my suspicions that these were delaying tactics...the staff almost certainly were aware of the problems.Call that what you will...but I ( and plenty more on this forum) wont be using Santander again.

    1. Some branch staff are hopeless at maths, what would happen if they gave you an incorrect prediction? You should be able to work it out yourself anyway and you should have done this before opening the account.

    2. Is that lying?

Ahem .. 1. "bank staff hopless at maths"....?..really...should'nt they be working somewhere else?...

    2. " I should be able to work it out myself" ? maybe I'll apply for their job!!

    3. Yes ...they knew there was IT problems but said otherwise.

Many thanks for for your help...really grateful. :rotfl:
