A Year of Living Frugabulously

Thanks guys :A,
sorry for long absence; in truth I'm struggling a bit at the moment.
I've never been a huge fan of this time of year what with all the expectations, feelings of failure & inadequacies when on the receiving end of various "look at how marvellously succesful we are" type of smug round robin attachments to christmas cards (Oh, and on that front, the only other one I've received so far is from Waitrose - always reliable
) & all the family juggling.
Since losing my mum it's become a bit of a nightmare trying to make sure that no one is left out. Well, actually, it seems that I'm the only one who actually worries about it; I've not heard from my brother for nearly 2 years now ( too busy spending his inheritance no doubt) my elder sister has been off the radar since about May & despite my younger sister's promises that she would make sure elderly rellies spent the day with her this year, she's since decided that she'd actually rather spend the day at home with her boyfriend, so they then don't both have to drive.
Presumably all previous offers to help with buying & preparing food are now defunct which means I now do the lot. DD is on an early shift so will be exhausted when she arrives about 2pm, by which time Dad will no doubt have voiced his displeasure/disapproval/ disappointment with almost every aspect of my life, littlest DD will have slunk off to her room with her laptop in a cloud of pre-teen misery leaving me in the kitchen lacerating the turkey as though my name was Norman Bates.
Oh deep joy.
I am incapable of mustering any sort of enthusiasm for anything other than drinking wine or CC spending at the moment. I hate just about everyone & everything at the moment so am best off avoiding my diary until my usual cheery self & good sense of humour returns.
It will return & then I can share positive stuff with you, but until that time, I'm best off wallowing alone & away from here
Love & hugs to all

Oh Lula you don't have to be positive with us all the time - you're welcome to rant and bend my ear any day! Sorry to hear about the siblings letting you down
((hugs))
I don't believe any of the hype and think the pressure just makes happy families events even less likely. I'm scandalising my lot again by refusing to join in so have just returned from pre-Christmas visits and will be spending the day reading and munching chocs, with time to properly reflect on the new season and the people I want to have in my life in the coming year. If you get really fed up, fling the carving knife at somebody and you can have my spare room til it's all over

They're not that successful if they have to advertise. I don't believe Elizabeth Winsor goes round saying "Did you know I'm the Queen?"DD is on an early shift so will be exhausted when she arrives about 2pm, by which time Dad will no doubt have voiced his displeasure/disapproval/ disappointment with almost every aspect of my life,
Just express your deepest jealousy at him having a daughter who moans less that your Dad...littlest DD will have slunk off to her room with her laptop in a cloud of pre-teen misery leaving me in the kitchen lacerating the turkey as though my name was Norman Bates.
Gets all your frustration out...Oh deep joy.

Nooo...your diary is a place for you to rant, as well as rave.It will return & then I can share positive stuff with you, but until that time, I'm best off wallowing alone & away from here
How does that song go? "It's OK to not be OK?"Love & hugs to all
xx
And you. :grouphug:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Ranting and moaning to friends is a neccessary event at Christmas. It may well be the season to be jolly but Holy Mary Mother of God is also a bloody irritating time of year if you don't fit in a box or have a "perfect" life. All judged by people who need to bog off and look up the definition freedom, choice and being an individual.
Be kind to yourself xxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Sorry to hear you're feeling so down. You're not alone on that score and am sorry your siblings have let you down again and left it all up to you.The pressure is too high for one expensive day.
Don't avoid your diary as that's what we're here for so rant and rave as much as you want and as they say problem shared /problem halved0 -
totally understand how you feel hun xx having family problems this year and its making everything feel horrible and not right xx0

I agree with what they said! You don't have to be positive on here - its adorable to read, yes, but this space is for *you*, and actually it would be really intimidating if you were always up and happy.
Like everyone else, I'm struggling with a few problems that this time of year makes worse - health, broken family, money, that sort of thing. Don't disappear ... take what support people want to give - its online, sure, but its still real.

Sorry to hear it's a tough time of year. If it's any consolation you are not alone.
How about putting on your most glamorous frock (fabulous) and feeding everyone beans on toast? (frugal)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0
