A Year of Living Frugabulously

Hi love, just saw a Kindle book called 'Frugillionaire: 500 fabulous ways to live richly and save a fortune' and thought of you. I'll let you know if it's any good. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

sounds like a good plan to have a day off mid week but am assuming the schools will have a few more strikes yet as they aren't going to get what they want0

I don't know if you have a Kindle Lula? There are SO many free books, it is BRILLIANT!!!
and if you don't have a Kindle you can down load them to your computer (after downloading Kindle Software)
of course some are utter rubbish, but lots are really good!

Ooooh I am so enjoying having today off ... am almost wondering if it would be better to have a day off mid week rather than FridaysBuffythedebtslayer wrote: »I don't know if you have a Kindle Lula? There are SO many free books, it is BRILLIANT!!!

And finally - I am an :A because I just resisted temptation to buy a Dior nail varnish. Can anyone recommend a cheap alternative in a sparkly grey/black colour?I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -

Yeee haaaa it's FRIDAY :j.
You know what ? Cold beans ain't 'ot ...
... & working on a Friday is actually not that bad :shocked:. Home-job work is dropping off to such an extent that I'm now almost willing Gropey / Grumpy to ask when I'm going to increase my hours. Trouble is we're still not busy at all.
Let's get straight to the biscuit : I eventually won the scrabble game from Grumpy with a 50 point lead. We're on the 3rd game now ( 1 all ) & I'm winning at the moment, although this could change.
Souk & Buffy - hello lovelies & thanks for the kindle tip, although I may well be the only person on DFW who doesn't want one :rotfl:. It just doesn't appeal to me right now; sorry.
I love my lappie & I love my phone & that's all the gadgetyness I require at the moment; they both fulfil a real need & have a purpose that both simplifies, & syncs my life. I don't need a book replacement because books work fine for me at the moment. Also, & possibly the most pertinent point; Kindles are bloody ugly looking things & I am an unashamed aesthete
.
Now let's talk berries;
The rent, council tax, water, virgin, lenses, insurance & DDs lunches for next week have all been paid.
I added a teeny amount to the cash funds which now have the following amounts in:
Childcare = £70
Presents = £90
Fun fund = £20
DD has had her pocket money for the week & I ended up with a fiver :rotfl:. It's ok though, because I still have the fiver from last week & this Friday night's boozing with the boys has been postponed as 2 of them had to work tonight.
Yesterday was Blood Donation day - keeping the karma topped up& the poor nurse had to abandon her first attempt & start again on the other arm. My blood flows so slowly that it actually stopped :rotfl:. In the end it took over half an hour to get the stuff out so I had a very lengthy lie down. I've been told to take a stress ball with me next time & might have a quick run round the car park first too just to get it going
.
No plans for this weekend other than getting essential tasks done & a trip to the cinema. We still have plenty of food in so I've not withdrawn my weekly allowance yet. I'll do that on Monday so I can whizz to Sainsbugs after work & also take my cd player in to be mended. I miss it too much & that will be my little festive gift to myself. Well, that & the lovely lingerie I've ordered from Figleaves :shhh:. I'll not be declaring it on the clothes challenge though, until I know it fits & I'm keeping it.
I've earned another £3 in paypal berries so now have about £13.
I've procured another 2 x £2 coins this week so have £46 in Jasper the Cat & I had another Quidco payout of about £26 so the Holiday Fund has an incredible £395 in it :j.
It's another 4 weeks to my next payday & from then on I'll be on my best superfrugal behaviour. I was watching the extreme penny pinchers programme last night & was really in awe of the coupon lady & how cheaply she gets her grocery shopping. Even the amazingly thrifty Souk would look spendy in comparison to her :rotfl:.
No matter how tough things get, I'm confident that there won't be any squirrels or magpies in my freezer, or on my barbecue :eek:. I had a brief look at the veg patch the other day on my way to the compost bin & I'm sure I saw an onion peeking up through the soil ??? I'm not sure that's a good thing though.
I think that's all my news updated & for those of you feeling a bit gloomy here's a cheerful thought;
Three weeks from now we'll have passed the winter solstice & be heading back towards the light again
Bye for now
xx

Hi Lola :-)
I agree with you on the kindle... me no likey... i love the feel of real books and will be a shame if they end up going and being replaced... plus i love having a looksie around car boot sales in the summer and i end up with all the top reads for about 20p each. I get a bag for life and keep stocked up, i got the most gorgeous brand new looking delia xmas cook book that was £25.00 for about 40p. All the books i get really do look brand new.. so really hope kindle dont take my books away. I know for the enviroment its good.. but surely the publishers know they will now make more money. I opt out for now lol x
Loved that programme.. ive been setting the old printer up to print some vouchers.. OMG she got shopping bits for free (madness)! i will be joining her believe..i have no shame haha.. and will be saving my pennies for NYC or Florida so bring on the vouchers!
Feel so bad, my son saw the road kill and burst into tears.. had to turn it off , gives me the creeps ewwwwww lol

A quick de-lurk over here to say I don't like Kindles either, I think they're antisocial... What better reason to meet mates for coffee and chat (other than just meeting to catch up!) than swapping books?“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

all sounding good0

needed that cheery thought, thanks lula-hula. It is feeling all a bit grim at the minute.
Totally agree on the kindle front, I love my books, and in paper format! I bought one for OH though, he loves it and is reading a lot more as a result. Different strokes... But I do hope I can still continue to get my bargain books in charity shops and jumbles.
I've had a major, and I mean major, splurge on maternity wear I still haven't reported on the clothes challenge. I put in my diary last week, and have been waiting for you to come and tell me off!
