Why should they be unsafe? I've automatically bunged whatever plastic container I've freezed things in into the microwave for years and I'm still here to tell the tale :)

I saw an episode of the Anthea Turner's Perfect Housewife - thingy a few months ago (can't believe I've just admitted to that) and saw her do this really nifty folding a T-shirt trick where you pinch opposite corners or something and when you pick it up it's all perfectly folded.

I remember thinking - WOW, I'll remember that, dead easy and really useful .............. and of course I'v completely forgotten it.

Immaculately folded T-shirts would no doubt look entirely out of place in my house, anyway, BUT I thought if I could perform this trick in front of my eldest daughter I might convince her she should practice hard until she's perfected it, too...... It's quite nice being an optimist, really !!

Anyone any idea or saw this episode too and able to explain how it goes ??
  • If you search the Chat Forums for "Fold your shirt" you should be able to find a link which will take you to a video of how to do this, as it was discussed a while back. Sorry I can't post links.

Hi, I'm planning on making some individual cottage pies in glass oven dishes, is glass safe to freeze?
  • Hi Al1x, sorry I don't know if glass is safe to freeze - but I'd probably risk it so I'd love to know!

My OH cooked a delicious curry last night, and I was planning to bring the leftovers (including rice) to work for lunch, then I remembered (!!!) that I've got an appointment this afternoon and will leave work too early - it's in the fridge at home, should I ask OH to shove it in the freezer for another time or will it be okay chilled until tomorrow?

    Hi,I am making this recipe

    http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/poor-mans-stroganoff-with-wild-mushrooms,1020,RC.html

I have put it into the slow cooker but the liquid is down the bottom of the crock pot and only a quarter of it is covered in liquid, will the rest of the meat, mushrooms and onions cook ok?

thanks for your help if you can answer.

I think its ok to eat left over curry if it has been kept in the fridge up to about 3 days.

I sometimes leave it a couple of days longer and it still tastes ok and don't get ill

    Morning,

Just found this thread so haven't had time to read it all. Quick question (sorry if it's been covered before)

I want to make egg custard (no pastry) and bulk it out with pudding rice. Would I be able to freeze a portion and how would you reheat it safely?

I think it depends on the actual make.

I have frozen the pyrex glass casserole dishes, but did read somewhere that you can't take them from the freezer and put them straight in the hot oven, so I defrost in the fridge overnight before cooking.

Other than pyrex, sorry but I don't know. :o
