Does anybody know how many tbsp or ml of juice a lemon holds? I am in the middle of strawberry jam making, and have forgotten to buy lemons during my weekly shop yesterday. I always use the juice of one lemon for each kilo of strawberries. I do have a jif lemon though, so will use that instead - if only I knew the quantity!

lots of thanks in advance :-)

I've been a complete numpty. This morning I made bread dough, then when I came to put it in the tins at lunchtime it hadn't risen - I had forgotten to put the yeast in:rotfl:. More than once recently I've found myself about to put the yeast back in the fridge before I'd put any into the flour. Anyway does anybody know if I can use it for anything or should I just put it in the bin?

I must be getting old - the other day I made some choc chip muffins, put them in the oven and realised I'd forgotten to put any sugar in :rotfl::rotfl:. I immediately made a batch with sugar in, and was going to serve the other ones with some very sweet custard. They've been slowly disappearing though - apparently they aren't too bad

At the risk of sounding really thick, can you not just add the yeast to the dough, and make sure it's mixed in well, then see if it'll rise:confused:

    Hello All ...

Due to Tescolditz lovely offer on new potatoes at the mo' I have acquired rather an embarrassment ...

Could anyone please tell me ... Can I cook and freeze potatoes? ... and if so should they be fully cooked or partially? .... Also .. if so .. could I roast pre-cooked/frozen potatoes?

    Regards ... LittleLotsofPotatoesBill ... :^)

sorry for repeating my question I posted two days ago...but I haven't quite managed to clean the fridge properly yet. The seal around the fridge door had loads of mold on it and I cant seem to remove it. I have wiped and scrubbed but still got black/gray spots on the seal.
Since I'm expecting in a couple of weeks time and are planing to store milk in the fridge for the baby the mold does concern me.
Any suggestions how to remove it...or perhaps it's not possible???

What kind of milk are you planning on storing in the fridge for the baby?

My daughter had a baby 8 months ago and we were surprised to find that the guidelines on formula feeding has changed - YET AGAIN!

Nowadays, 'they' recommend that you only keep plain boiled water in the sterilised bottles and make the bottles up as and when required. And then to throw away remaining contents after 1 hour.

Not sure about the guidelines for storing expressed breast milk though. But surely if that was the case, the milk would be inside the bottle with the disc sealing inside the neck of the bottle - with the teat only being inserted after removing the bottle from the fridge - IYKWIM. As always, I suppose it's best to check with your midwife about all these things - may even change again before your baby arrives :D.

    Hi greenpixey,

I wouldn't worry too much about the mould affecting the milk stored in the fridge if it's not coming into direct contact with it.

These earlier threads (yes I know one is for bathroom sealants but the same principles apply) may help:

    Clean mold from Freezer seals

How to remove mould from bathroom sealant ?

Sounds like you are 'nesting' so hopefully it won't be a long wait before your baby arrives. Good luck with the birth.
