I dont have lot of clothes that need hand washing, does anyone else use a wee bit of shampoo for their delicates instead of buying a seperate washing powder?

I use "normal" washing powder and just hand wash them in the sink. Just put the powder in first with some hot water and swish it so it dissolves and then add cold till it's suitable for hand washing in. You do have to rinse it extra sometimes though to get rid of the powder bits ;)

Try your local halal butcher, or for goat anywhere there's a Jamaican community! I know I can get both just down the road.

BTW isn't all lamb / mutton free range, because you can't keep sheep indoors?

Another quicky, I've got some wraps left over from yesterday, and don't want to feed the crabby their wraps in quite the same way again tonight, so I'm planning to sort of treat them like Lasagne sheets, layered in a tomato-ey sauce with chicken and sweetcorn (also left over from yesterday!)

If the sauce and chicken and sweetcorn mess is hot, how long do you think it needs to be in the oven for? I was thinking 10-15 minutes, ie long enough to melt the cheese that has to go on top ...

  • I've received a cheque today and the zero in £10 has been written with a slanting line through it. Is that how some people write it (I've never seen it before) or when I take it to the bank are they going to say it's been crossed out?

    Hi,
I think the cheque thing should be ok,
some people write a zero like this to differentiate between the letter o and zero and out of habit do it all the time instead of only when they need to.

As long as the words say "10 pounds" rather than "1 pound", it'll be fine. As sunnyday says, that's how some people do it - I would if I wanted to make it very clear, eg I sometimes put numbers into passwords so if I wrote 'passw0rd' down to give it to someone else - perish the thought! - I'd put a / through that zero to show I didn't mean it to be a Capital O.

do we get commission if we're right? :rotfl:

    Probably :)

To check - stick a knife deep into it - leave it there for a few seconds, then test the temperature of the knife (don't burn your fingers).

If it ain't warm enough... just send it here and I'll warm it up in my microwave for you :)

I might even send it back! ;)

Silly me, I never thought of the microwave.

It was hot when it went in. I'm about to go and find out!

And I sometimes use my cake tester from Lakeland for these purposes! But I think that needs washing up ...
