I know this is a very silly question - but what is the best way to do breadcrumbs?

Blender, processor, even a grater if the bread is stale enough.

i`ll second that i`ve used all 3 with good results and if it`s just to use up old bread i`ll freeze the crumbs to use later, they can be used straight from the freezer too.

  • Has anyone successfully frozen grated mozzarella?

Yes according to Livalot on another thread:) - I've just cut and pasted it here:

Some great ideas here. What I do is buy normal round mozzarella (often find it in the reduced section of supermarkets) then freeze it. When I am making pizza, I just take it out of freezer maybe 30mins or so before I need it and grate it when it is still frozen as is it so much easier to do! Really cheap, easy and yummy plus doing it like this I find one small mozzarella can be scattered over several pizzas and cooks really quickly - all very money saving:j

I was given several small round mozarellas so now I know what to do with them - anyone give any suggestions for the sliced (I think) feta? Not a cheese I usually buy!

I don't have a blender so I dry it in the oven (0.5 hour on gas mark 1 or two) leave it to cool, put it in a bag and bash the hell out of it with a rolling pin! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I like feta crumbled into couscous and veggies :) or even on pizza (tho DH thinks this is disgusting). You could also make a feta and spinach pie (google it, never done it myself but have eaten it!)

I have often used feta on pizza...mainly to use up though as I like it just as it comes with tomato and onion, drizzles with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil, with brown bread and butter.

I have also frozen most kinds of cheese with good results, tends to be a bit crumbly when defrosted so if I have the time ( or can be bothered!) I would grate it before freezing...thanks for the tip about freezing mozzarella before grating Belfast Girl!
