Thank you. BUT the syrup was on bogof so I had to buy it, of course. I was going to show the grandkids how to make them, but I think I'd better have a practice run first. Grandkids + treacle = !!!!!
Many Thanks

Help, what I can I use to de-scale my kettle.
I have begged one of those sachet jobbies off my mother, but it is still very scaley and I'm far too mean to part with cash for a packet of de-scaley stuff myself.
I have had a search through the forum, but unable to find anything....does this job call for the trusty bottle of vinegar?
Thanks in advance...The TwitOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Hi Whatatwit,
I use neat vinegar and just leave it over night. The next morning, I empty it out, give it a good rinse and then boil the kettle with just water in it a couple of times before using it.
There are lots of suggestions on this older thread that may help:

I'm sure this is the wrong thread but the search thing is not happening for me this morning, I am going to make a bolognese sauce in the sc in a minute and I would like to add red wine to it, how much of the beef stock would you substitute for the wine, it says in the recipe book to add 400ml of beef stock?
I would much appreciate anyones advice.

Another bean question (or two)... I have a pack of dried butter beans.
If I want to use them in the slow cooker - can i just soak and then boil them for 10 mins and freeze or do I have to cook for the whole time before freezing?
If they go in the slow cooker at the beginning of the cooking time - will they turn to mush if fully cooked and then frozen? I heard that canned kidney beans are likely to do this if cooked for 8 hours on low.
(am out all day so can't add them in the last hour of cooking)

I have managed to loose the instructions for my dried peas! I want to quick soak them as I'm short on time! They are the standard ones from Tesco if that helps? The ones with the soaking tablets in them - I've already got the bacon joint in the slow cooker so please help!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
