A1 National Van Hire - no deposit return
Options
Has anyone used A1 National Van Hire previously? I hired a van for a weekend, the van arrived and was collected on time. When I returned the van the guy checked it over and confirmed all was fine and said the deposit would be returned in full within 5 working days.
Seven days later and still no deposit returned so I am starting to worry and get annoyed:mad:
Anyone have any experience or advice how to pursue this? I have called them and they confirm each time the deposit is being processed and will be with me in three working days.

I wouldnt worry about it, give them a few more days and it should be fine.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I Googled and found a website where around 50 people had posted complaints about their deposits not being returned. To what extent am I protected as I purchased the van hire online using my credit card?0

Not really sure whether this sort of thing is covered but on a normal purchase its anything £100 or over.
Hope that helps a bit.
Keep on keeping on at them, if nothing in the next week, threaten them with legal actionmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hi guys. Ive just joined this forum becuase after googling with the same problem i came across your discussion. I used A1 in Feb this year and still no deposit back. The scary thing is i got allll of the excuses the numerous complaint websites are displaying. So, looks like ill definately have to threaten legal action..but im curious what exactly that is. Did you say you would be in touch with trading standards and the small claims county court? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Dave0

I've had same problem as many it seems in trying to get a deposit back from A1. Have had many phone calls including one where the operator told me he would not only stop my deposit from being refunded but also increase the amount charged to my card just to prove he could!
I think its sorted now - fingers crossed - but only after insisting I got a copy of the refund slip emailed to me which incidentally showed the date and time of the refund which in itself was a revalation!.
Right bunch of cowboys. Next time I'm just going direct to the company they subcontracted to who were lovely!0 -
Hi, I am furious with this company. I used them in January, the van was 2 hours late, it was a wreck when it came. Anyway they collected it fine it was ok, I spoke to them the next day said deposit would be returned the following week... Two months later still nothing. I have sent numerous emails which are ignored and called them. They always say they will check the bank and call back.. They don't. Then they say it's already been returned.. It hasn't.. Then they say they will send a copy of bank statement as proof.. They don't. I have now sought legal advice and I sent a letter recorded delivery which I'm waiting for either a response or my refund. They are so rude so unprofessional!
Please if anyone of you have experienced any problems contact me it would really help0
