Everyone who has held out for all of it has succeeded in getting all of it. As long as you prepare properly & do your homework you will succeed.
I claimed from my credit card & got back every penny plus interest.

thanks all just wrote the letter to sainsburys saying i wont except there offer so all i can say is watch this space
  • Have had an offer from them to settle at £235 which I've rejected as my original claim plus interest is now at over £600. Have given them two weeks to consider a 'without prejudice' offer to settle my claim at £450 or else I go to court for the full sum.

Similar tactic worked with Haifax Visa who accepted by the second letter, so hopefully Sainsburys will do similar.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

I got a letter today offering me £648 (that despite saying I'd be happy with £450!). And yes, I think I will ask to go on a negotiations course with work as a result!

I got that response about 8 days after the 'been referred to a Customer Relations Manager' so a better response may be around the corner for you.

  • I've recently been contacted by Sainsbury credit card about my reclamation of unfair charges. I asked for £480 + £120 interest as a total amount (i.e. not the difference between their charges and the 'acceptable' £12 charge). They have offered me £180 as a very quick (less than a week to reply!) first offer. Do you think this is a good offer to accept? If not, what's my next move? Do I continue with the letters and threaten court action or do I simply ask for a higher offer?

Hi paul well done on your offer! Its entirely up to you what you do next. If you didnt want to accept as full and final offer you could ask for the remainder of the £480 as full and final settlement and not claim the interest. Thats what ive done with mine after much reading and deliberating. Received a very long patronising letter from GE money this morning so i have decided to ask for the full amount minus interest and their offer of a measly £36!

sorry went off on one a bit but just wanted to let you know what i have decided. Even if you decided to take the offer as full settlement its still money you thought you would never see again!
