What is good value at Waitrose

Their essential type lasagne sheets are really good value - and they do a green one too.
They have the best whoopsies on bread for miles arround, it's a great place to be at about 3 ish on a Sunday afternoon, they reduce all the meat on the fresh meat counter too. Wish mine was closer (about 8 miles) can only call in when in the area.0 -
I prefer to shop at Waitrose because I don't get mucked about like I do at Tesco. Waitrose Essentials range is good only Basic Range I use.
Puy lentils are good.
Got to think I get a whole load of stuff from them. Their Bar Salads are fantastic so avoid Tesco and other Supermarket offerings and just go for Waitrose. Well worth a visit.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Waitrose has to be by far the best quality supermarket I've come across, so I'd say the majority of their food is good value for money. You get what you pay for when it comes to food and as it's the stuff we're fueled on why compromise on quality?
The best thing I've found so far is their cheese deli mmm, they do a lovely organic Cornish cheese which has crippled my love of Cathedral Cheddar, which now tastes like plastic in comparison. I normally spend the same in Waitrose as I do in mr T but I enjoy the food more and waste a lot less because it tastes yummy.SPC = £15.54 #1413

Also are there things that are too expensive and to avoid. I have a leaflet for Waitrose saying its free delivery on £50 or over. Is this different to Ocado? Thanks.
Ocado and waitrose are separate companies although ocado do sell some waitrose branded goods. Ocado is basically a web based supermarket but the order is delivered in the same way if you ordered from tesco, asda, waitrose or sainsburys.0 -
Not much point in getting free delivery if you are paying 50% over the odds on the goods!!
I actually think this opinion is a bit out-dated. Waitrose have many branded goods at the same price as Tesco. Their fresh fruit, vegetables and meat ARE a bit more expensive - though not that much - but the quality is generally much higher.0 -
*Shopping at Mr T's seems socially accepable, despite the fact that you need a mathematics degree in order to track numerous prices which have lives of their own, whereas Waitrose is deemed non MSE'*
Waitrose prices as as they are stable are a good reason to go there plus qaulity is unbeatable.
I couldn't live without my local Waitrose and think they are a great Store.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

I tend to find overall other supermarkets are cheaper on most products but one thing caught me the other day: the sliced meats. In Sainsburys/Tescos..etc they all have the cheapo meat with somewhere around 80% meat (and the rest made up of chemical names) makes me think of the episode where Jamie Oliver attempts to make a turkey twizler (with fat, filler and guts).
With the Waitrose version, they have a decent amount of meat- may even be 100% but at the same price as the lousy slimy stuff- and it tastes good too (texture isn't slimey).
When they do have offers they are quite good, they had 3-4-2 on all the cereals last week so I stocked up until Christmas (I only needed to take the offer up once to stock up my tiny kitchen!)
Whever I've seen it, it would seem the bakery is the best thing to hit if you eat bread at the end of the day, had seen them in the past bringing out new batches of bread freshly baked before marking them down pretty much as they laid them out...odd but very much welcomed by the masses!
You do need to keep an eye on the prices and also the quantities/sizes of products too- they don't seem to take the P as much as Tescos and their shrinking package trick (its Halloween all year round with those guys) but it can be easy to think something is a good deal if your not so sure on your package sizes.0 -
We don't shop there all the time, but have been known to loiter there about 3pm on a Sunday to hoover up any reduced bargains, particularly from the meat counter. It has to be at least 50% off before I will consider it, though. Our local one is very good to visit on Christams Eve/ Eater Saturday, etc - it's amamzing what you can pick up. I also like the charity things that Waitrose does, as well as the way they treat their staff. TBBH, if our numbers came up on the lottery, I would go there all the time (unless we moved back north, where Booths knocks it into a cocked hat!)Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH
