What is good value at Waitrose

Waitrose is a joy to shop in, the shelves are always tidy and the staff are always helpful. I just wish that there was one nearer to me. It's a 40 mile round trip to get there so we only go once a month. The reason why I don't shop online is that they do so much different stuff its fun to look around. My favourite foods are their freshly baked rolls and the fresh cakes.0

That did make me laugh!0 -
Thanks everyone for all this information. I'm definitely going to try the cheese, coffee, bacon and a few other things!0

Waitrose Essentials Cherry tomatoes are full of flavour, unlike some of the tasteless offerings from other supermarkets.0

I will have to agree with a lot of the posters here. I buy all my meat from Waitrose, the quality is great, there is less fat and gristle, so I throw less away. The latest that I have tried is their stewing lamb at 2.49 a pack. Yes it has bones, but I don't mind, and it made a great tagine style casserole! A whole pack served two of us generously, and then I picked some of the meat and veg out to make moroccan style pasties for another day.0

Don't buy their own brand Olive spread - it's really horrible! Every other supermarket own brand of this is really lovely, even Lidl and Aldi, but for some reason the Waitrose one tastes really disgusting. I bought one or a second time recently thinking, maybe the first one I bought was 'off' but no, it was still the same - YUK!!
I love the quality of their food though (~other things!!), but I get sucked in to buying all of their lovely other things and end up spending a fortune - it's so lovely in there - and their seasonal stuff - also their 'fresh cake' counter - {heavenly!!} so only go in there if you have a willpower of steel, and stick rigidly to a list:D I'm too weak to do this, so only shop there in emergencies when I've run out of something and it's on my way home from town etc.0 -

& the Essentials wafer thin honey roast ham.
& the smoked streaky rashers from the butchers counter.0 -
i love the meat - great selection and always very good (much better that either of our local butchers!!!), i love their Organic Milk (my son spoons the cream from the top of the 'blue' milk) and the customer service is second to none
however i couldnt afford to buy all our shopping in waitrose, so mix it with Aldi0 -
Excellent quality meat in Waitrose.. even better when reduced!0

I second the butter, both salted and unsalted, £1.10 for 250g.
Their customer service is great too. On the very few occassions I have complained about an item (once fruit bad within sell by date and a corked bottle of wine) they have refunded and replaced with a smile, apology and good humour.Eating Out of the Storecupboards Challenge.
